Much more like an actual movie than the newer one, with a proper story. Unfortunately it's also a bit dry and lifeless. And though a lot more subtle about it, it's still an advertorial.

Contemporary dance horror. The supernatural theme makes a good ending impossible, but the climax and the journey to it are done extremely well.

What happens to bad reviews and the people who write them? The opening credits want you to believe you're watching the new James Bond. The action is big budget and hugely unconvincing. The espionage and counterintelligence backstory is token in the extreme, not even cardboard cutout grade. The acting is schoolyard all action hero, as you'd expect. The plot's pedestrian, but mercifully at least moves along at a fair clip. The dialogue spends far too much time in simpleton. And what's Pegg doing staying with this - is he brainwashed or self-lobotomised?

A beautiful and very believable film, with powerfully affecting music performances, and always credible characters. Moving.

Lots of funny jokes, but the frenetic pace fits in loads of inauthenticity and marketing.
