Movie Ratings and Reviews

A Call Girl (Slovenka)

Good! Its one of those films where you might not like the lead character but you desperately want to learn more about them. They are engaging, gripping, and very very interesting.

If I Were You
½

Hollywood already made many movies with this plot. Now even in other countries they are doing the same thing. Tony Ramos makes it kind of funny.

The Return
The Return(2004)

It was very intense but not my cup of tea to be honest. It could be not so boring in the first half of the movie.

Christiane F
Christiane F(1981)
½

Shocking scenes. Great story. This movie makes you feel extremely depressed. Good acting by Natja Brunckhorst.

Across the Universe

The scene with the strawberries was amazing. It feels like I need to listen to The Beatles entire discography again

Blade Runner
Blade Runner(1982)

Very disappointing. I was expecting so much more for an 80's classic.

Identity Thief

That was actually a little bit better than what I was expecting. Usually Jason Bateman's movies are not good comedies, but this one was able to entertain most of the audience. Just didn't understand the point of adding that gangster couple to the movie. That wasn't necessary.

Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies(2013)

What the hell was that? Hollywood doesn't know what to produce anymore!

Amour
Amour(2012)

Didn't like it. The plot was good, but it got developed in a very boring way.

Zero Dark Thirty
½

I'm not a big fan of U.S. - Middle East war movies, but this one was very good. Jessica Chastain gave us one of her best performances. Like how the movie doesn't make it clear that the terrorist who got captured is not Bin Laden, for sure.

A Haunted House

Wasn't funny at all. Most jokes were dumb.

Summer With Monika (Sommaren med Monika)

A little bit too promiscuous for its time. Interesting story about love and loss.

Die vierte Macht (The Fourth State)

Good movie. Plot was great and Moritz Bleibtreu gives us another amazing performance.

Vanishing Point
½

A real 70's classic. Good movie and good plot, just was a little bit disappointed with the ending. The racing scenes were amazing.

Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

Great movie. It's so trashy and funny at the same time. What makes "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" great is the way that it takes the sex and violence of the trash film and distills them into something more iconic than explicit. A real grindhouse classic flick.

The Bond
The Bond(1918)

Not one of Chaplin's best movies, but still pretty good.

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
½

When this movie first came out it was terrifying. I guess because the American audience is still traumatized with terrorism in NYC. Now, the movie was simply entertaining with a great group of actors. Good remake, but the original is still better.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three

Great movie! Director Joseph Sargent's The Taking of Pelham One Two Three is a well crafted and thrilling film with a wonderful cast. A real classic. The inspiration for Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs?

Pay Day
Pay Day(1922)

One of Chaplin's funniest short movies ever. Amazing flick! Chaplin genius!

The Idle Class

Good plot and it was funny. Even though it was very short and the plot could be better developed, Chaplin brings us a great movie.

The Killing
The Killing(1956)

Like most of Kubrick's films, it tends to be very slow and boring, but the last 20 minutes were sort of good. I liked how everything almost worked out according to the plan, but the scene in the airport with all that money flying was fantastic.

A Day's Pleasure

Not one of Chaplin's best movie, but still pretty good. It's just hard to imagine the Tramp like a family man.

The Campaign
The Campaign(2012)
½

Good movie. Ribald, funny, merciless fun at the expense of politicians and politics. Will ferrell is a great comedian, unlike their colleagues Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller, it follows the same pattern and maintains the same level of laughter in all his films. Zach Galifianakis is also great. I like how it makes fun on the politicians and on some stereotypical conservative voters in the USA.

The Master
The Master(2012)

This movie was nominated for an Oscar for best picture? Hollywood has got to be kidding! This was one of the worst movies I've seen in a really long time. Besides, what's the importance of Amy Adams' role in here? She was nominated for an Oscar and she almost doesn't appear at all in the movie.

Sunnyside
Sunnyside(1919)
½

The opening sequence was very funny. Great story.

Rolling Thunder

Great vigilante exploitation. It starts a little bit slow, but the last 10 minutes were great.

The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog

Very good movie for its time. Hitchcock was a genius.

Baarìa
Baarìa(2009)
½

It had a good plot, but I thought that the way it was edited and produced seemed a little bit amateur in some parts. Good acting, but was still pretty boring in some parts.

Chuck Berry: Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll

Excellent documentary about Chuck Berry's life. I liked how he explained the story about all his hits and it showed him practicing with Keith Richards. Didn't like hearing John Lennon's son singing Johnny Be Good.

Hitchcock
Hitchcock(2012)

Excellent! The chemistry between, and performances of Mirren and Hopkins are delightful and make this movie actually a romance, so if many of you are waiting for a biography movie, forget about it. Hitchcock is a simple movie. It doesn't bring anything new, but still pretty entertaining and comic.

A Good Day To Die Hard

Pretty good action movie. Bruce Willis seemed to be tired of playing the same character, but he was still funny. About the plot ... well, there was no plot. Acting was bad for most part of the actors, especially the guy who plays his son. Good movie for action movies fans.

Live Free or Die Hard
½

It started to fall down. Too many especial effects for a "Die Hard"movie. What the f**k was that guy who moves too fast? Die Hard is becoming one the action movies full of effects that Hollywood does nowadays. Bruce Willis is still the same old John McClane, but the rest of the cast wasn't that good.

Die Hard: With a Vengeance
½

Wow! Third movie and is still good. Samuel L. Jackson was OK being part of the Die Hard cast. Plot here is not good as the first movies, but still pretty entertaining.

Die Hard 2
Die Hard 2(1990)

Good as the first one. Bruce Willis did a great job in this one too. It's the wrong man, in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Villains were also good, and the scenes with the airplane explosion in the end was just perfect.

Die Hard
Die Hard(1988)

This is my favorite action movie ever. Bruce Willis was perfect in this movie and the story was also good. Much better than the action movies nowadays with so many especial effects and everybody knowing all kinds fo martial arts. Alan Rickman was a fantastic villain. This movie is a real classic. Yippee-ki-yay motherfucker!

The Three Stooges

Hollywood just ruined the classic Three Stooges. This movie was not entertaining, neither funny. Most scenes were extremely stupid. About the acting, what can I say? The people from Jersey Shore, believe it or not, are actually some of the best ones in the movie.

Bad Education

God! I hate Pedro Almodóvar's movies. Dialogues are usually boring, characters are fucked up and bizarre, and the story goes slow.

The Rookie
The Rookie(1990)
½

Thank God Clint Eastwood stopped acting and now is mostly directing. His acting in the old action movies was pathetic. Charlie Sheen isn't that bad, but everybody knows he can't act. Sonia Braga is playing a slut like usual and the best acting actually comes from Raul Julia.

His Girl Friday
½

Very funny and the plot was silly but entertaining at the same time. Gary grant and Rosalind Russell, and Ralph Bellamy give us amazing performances.

The Big Combo

Pretty good mobster movie for its time. Richard Conte did an amazing job and plot was very similar to the last gangster movies made.

Die Unsichtbare (Cracks in the Shell)
½

Engagingly directed by German filmmaker Christian Schwochow, Die Unsichtbare brings us the amazing story of a young girl who wants to be a theater actress and has a tough life. A consistently gripping and strikingly compassionate independent film.

Habana Eva
Habana Eva(2010)

Somehow entertaining. The best thing about this movie was actually the scenes which show parts of Havana.

Prince of Foxes

Pretty good plot. Acting was good, but the costumes could be a little bit better.

Film socialisme

This was insanely boring. Do not waste 2 hours of your life with this.

The Intouchables
½

Great movie! At its core, The Intouchables is the story of two men and their unlikely friendship. It's told with enough weight, conviction, and character development that it's easy to get wrapped up in the movie's sweeping emotional tide. Great performances by François Cluzet and Omar Sy. Unbelievable how this movie did not receive a nomination for the Academy Awards.

The Iron Lady
½

Outstanding performance by Meryl Streep, but I agree with the review from Globe and Mail when they say that "The Iron Lady is a performance in search of a film."

Foxy Brown
Foxy Brown(1974)

A Blaxploitation classic. Pam Grier is amazing.

Argo
Argo(2012)

One of the best movies of the year. I never thought I would say that but Ben Affleck is amazing in this movie. Actually, the whole cast did a great job. I thought that it was just going to be another boring movie about the conflicts in Middle East, but it is so much more than that. Totally worth-watching.

Gangster Squad
½

Good movie. Really far behind from mafia classics like The Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino or Scarface, but I guess it stays in the same level as these new movies like American Gangster or Public Enemies. Sean Penn is outstanding as usual, Josh Brolin is doing the usual performance and Ryan Gosling is worse than usual. Still a pretty good movie though.

When in Rome
When in Rome(2010)

Don't waste your time with this crap.

Silver Linings Playbook
½

Surprisingly great. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence were outstanding. Nice plot.

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Awful, awful sequence. No plot, no acting, no fun.

Ghost Rider
Ghost Rider(2007)

It was another bad movie with Nicolas Cage, but it was somehow a little bit entertaining.

Les Misérables

Tom Hooper did an amazing job even though Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe are not the great singers to be in a musical.

The Adventures of Tintin
½

I've always been a fan of Tintin. The movie was good, even though it wasn't Tintin's best story. The cinematography was great and Spielberg brought it back the magic behind this children's classic.

Joshua
Joshua(2007)

What the hell was that?

Takers
Takers(2010)

Nothing new. Some of the action scenes were pretty good. Was Chris Brown some kind of spider-man in this movie? T.I. keep singing, because you clearly can't act.

Two Sons of Francisco (2 Filhos de Francisco)
½

Surprisingly good. I do not like the music style in the movie, but I have to admit that was a touching good story.

Lincoln
Lincoln(2012)
½

Great political movie. Spielberg as usual does a great job with the production and Daniel Day-Lewis is perfect playing Lincoln.

Django Unchained

Django Unchained was Tarantino's goriest movie ever. I think I've never seen so much blood in a non-horror flick. Awesome movie though. The whole cast does an amazing job, especially the four main actors: Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Samuel L. Jackson. The soundtrack was pretty good as usual on most of Tarantino's movies and the plot was very original. Maybe it might a little too much for the academy to give an Oscar, but definitely one of the best movies of 2012.

Cloud Atlas
Cloud Atlas(2012)

Very promising plot and the special effects were great as the Wachowski brothers are famous for, but somehow it ended up being a little bit boring and slow movie. I like how the same actor plays very different characters and some of the stories were actually good with a nice message, but in general wasn't much my cup of tea.

3000 Miles to Graceland

Was this about Elvis Presley at all?

Nabbeun namja (Bad Guy)

What the heck was that? Awful. There are no dialogues, the plot was ridiculous and almost all the scenes the girl just slapped the guy's face while he tried to be affectionate to her in a wild way.

Rome Adventure
½

Great love story, good acting, song was beautiful and the landscape from famous landmarks of Italy made a great cinematography. Good classic.

Le Soldatesse
½

Plot was promising but it ended up being a very boring movie.

Life of Pi
Life of Pi(2012)

Plot was interesting and the ending making you wonder if that really happened was great. Some other scenes were kind of expendable. Great acting by the main character and the visual effects in the movie were fantastic.

Singin' in the Rain

I could say that this is one of the most important American movies in all history. Great music, dance, color, plot and acting from Debbie Reynolds, Donald O`Connor, Jean Hagen, and of course Gene Kelly. Songs were kind of catching and dance was an amazing show. The greatest classic of all musicals.

War and Peace

Amazing movie for its time. What a very long epic film classic! Great plot based on Tolstoi's book.

Salvador
Salvador(2006)
½

Pretty good political movie. Daniel Brühl did a very good job dealing with the Spanish language in the movie. Acting was OK though.

Mortal Kombat: Annihilation

What the hell was that?!?! Awful sequence. No story, visual effects were pretty bad and most of the cast was not even the same. It was just good to see some of the fighting moves from the video games.

Mortal Kombat

This movie needs a new version with better action scenes. Still, it was pretty good for its time. Good adaption from the video games. Robin Shou as Liu Kang was great.

The Woman in the Window

The suspense was pretty good, even though the killer made it too obvious for the detectives, until the part which Dan Duryea's character tries to blackmail the main ones. The ending was way too disappointing.

Scarlet Street
½

In my opinion, it is definitely one of Fritz Lang's best movies. The acting, the plot, the music, the characters, the cinematography ... everything works out wonderfully in this great drama/suspense movie. Good performances from Joan Bennett and Edward G. Robinson.

Goethe! (Young Goethe in Love)

Very good movie. I was expecting to be a little bit more biographical, but it is actually just the story of his first book. Very good acting.

Hostel: Part III

This one was able to be even worse than the second movie. It was just awful.

Hostel Part II

Awful! There is not too much torture like the first one, but maybe this is what is wrong with this sequence. Ridiculous end with the kids playing soccer with the girl's head. The scene which the guy looses his penis is also horrible.

Hostel
Hostel(2006)

The first movie was good. A little bizarre, but it was ok. I'm not really into horror movies which only show torture, but this one was good. I was shocked to find out that it was based on true events. The girls from east Europe in the movie are just gorgeous. The first movie at least had some plot.

Paraísos Artificiais

It is just a bunch of people partying, using drugs, and having sex. The other 10 minutes of the movie are boring.

The Gold Rush
½

Charles Chaplin is one of the greatest actor that ever existed. This movie is funny and entertaining. The romance is pretty good and the music is great.

Man on Fire
Man on Fire(2004)
½

Marc Anthony is such a bad actor. Besides that, this was pretty good.

Lolita
Lolita(1962)

Good story. It was interesting how James Mason's character was possessed by jealous and anger because of that little girl. Sue Lyon did a terrific job. She was very mature and sensual for her age. Honestly, I was expecting that the movie show a little bit more about their relationship, to be considered so controversial. I'm not a big fan of Stanley Kubrick, but it's an OK movie. I can see why was a little bit shocking to its time. Isn't that Jerry Lee Lewis' life?

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Extremely boring. It's dreamlike and hard to understand some scenes. Almost 2 hours of misery with no purpose.

Senna
Senna(2011)
½

Rarely does a documentary delve so successfully in to its subject matter, even if you're not into racing, this is a movie that has drama, betrayal, tragedy, inspiration, action, and some short scenes of comedy. A great captivating documentary about one of the best racing drivers that ever existed who was obsessed by winning.

Ruby Sparks
Ruby Sparks(2012)

This movie was surprisingly good. I went to the movie theater thinking that it was going to be a typical chick's-flick, but it was a pretty good romance movie. Has some deep questions about society and Zoe Kazan gives us an amazing performance.

The Kid
The Kid(1921)
½

Brilliant! Charles Chaplin is a genius. Definitely, one of the greatest actors that ever existed. Plot was pretty good and can be a little touching.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

It was actually much better than what I was expecting. Of course the violence and plot can be grotesque and kind of weak. It's a movie about vampires with Abraham Lincoln! What were you expecting? An Oscar winner?!?!?! I thought to be entertaining and some characters were kind of convincing.

Boogie Nights

What a great movie! Paul Thomas Anderson did a great movie about drugs in the pornographic industry. The cast couldn't be better: Julianne Moore, William H. Macy, Mark Wahlberg, Don Cheadle, Heather Graham, Alfred Molina and Philip Seymour Hoffman. It just didn't become more famous because it's main topic.

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids(2011)

Not bad movie. It tried to have a little bit of "The Hangover" in it, but was not as successful, neither funny. Some scenes were ok. I just thought it was a little bit too much to be nominated for 2 Oscars. You can have some laughs with this one.

Dinner for Schmucks

This was one of the worst movies of the decade. Is Steve Carell the next Adam Sandler?

The Dictator
The Dictator(2012)
½

Typical Sacha Baron Cohen movie. Funnier than the awful Bruno, but still not as brilliant as Borat. Some scenes weren't actually funny. The dialogues are so stupid that you gotta laugh about it. The dictator still brings some weird and disgusting sexual humor which is typical in his movies.

Sucker Punch
Sucker Punch(2011)

What the heck is that? Awful movie! The scenes with hotties dressed as innocent school girls make pretty much 90% of the movie.

Bus 174 (Ônibus 174)
½

Great social documentary! Padilha shows again that he is one of the best directors nowadays.

The Dark Knight Rises

The perfect end for the perfect trilogy. Or maybe this is not the end. Great acting by all the cast members, especially Anne Hathaway who did a brilliant job. The plot was great and the action scenes even better. Didn't like so much the thing about Alfred leaving Batman when he needed him the most and I preferred the way how Robin and Catwoman are connected to Batman's story according to this movie than the older movies. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale, PLEASE make another Batman movie!

The Dark Knight

Awesome! I thought that everybody was going to the movie theatres just because Heath Ledger died before the movie came out, but it's a really really good one. I still don't know which is the best joker. Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson? The story was brillant and the whole cast was great. Except Maggie Gyllenhall. She sucked. I hope that they make another movie. I want a sequel with the Joker again, but it's gonna be hard to find someone to substitute Heath Ledger. I also thought that Michael Caine's character could be more active in the story. Christopher Nolan did a really good job in this one. However it's still a must see movie.

Batman Begins

Really good movie. I liked that they changed the whole story from the old movies. The whole cast was great, besides Morgan Freeman; I mean, he is in everything. People don't get tired of him? And what was that new batman's car? It looks more like a war tank. Good plot and acting.

Batman & Robin

This was definitely the worst Batman movie ever made. The plot was awful. Why they put a "batgirl" in the story? Uma Thurman looked sexy though. George Clooney was the wrong choice to play Batman. The whole thing just seemed dumb.

Batman Forever
½

This Batman movie sucked! Jim Carrey played the same kind of goofy and crazy character that he always does. Val Kilmer sucked as Batman and what in God's name was Chris O'Donnell as Robin? I guess it's just because he looks so gay as the old Robin from the TV show.

Batman Returns

I don't know what happened to this movie. I mean the actors made a good job. Danny DeVito and Michelle Pfeiffer were perfect for their characters. However Tim Burton made this movie looks like some kind of Broadway show. All those guys dressed like clowns dancing in the streets was way too much. Danny DeVito was perfect in his role.

Batman
Batman(1989)

Jack Nicholson should get an Oscar for this movie. He was the perfect "joker". I mean the insane smile seemed to be so normal. Great movie about the Joker, I mean Batman. Most of the acting was great and the action scenes were good, but too much choreographed.

Amistad
Amistad(1997)

Powerful story! I thought it was a typical Spielberg's movie. Matthew McConaughey pretty much plays the same role he did in "Time to Kill" and Anthony Hopkins is amazing as usual. Djimon Hounsou is such a great actor, but sometimes I don't think Hollywood notices that. Great movie!

Short Cuts
Short Cuts(1993)
½

The plot was interesting but still was weak and boring in too many parts.

Quadrophenia
Quadrophenia(1979)
½

Disappointing! Very boring! The soundtrack was actually good though.

A Dry White Season
½

Very good! Important movie released before the apartheid was over in South Africa that shows us a little bit of the atrocities caused by such a cruel regime. Good movie that is unknown to most people.

The Man Who Knew Too Little

This is one of the best movies with Bill Murray. Some of the scenes were hilarious even though the acting was not good by almost every single person in this movie.

The Man Who Knew Too Much

It doesn't seem like Hitchcock movie. It seems like it was a very expensive movie for its time and it lacked in some good points there. The acting in general was good, but I still prefer the old one.

The Man Who Knew Too Much
½

Much more fun than its remake. Good acting even though the movie seems more like a theater play.

The Prince of Egypt
½

Not a good child's movie. It could be more entertaining for kids.

Game Change
Game Change(2012)

Outstanding! Julianne Moore gives us an amazing performance (if it's not her best one) and Woody Harrelson is great as the main guy behind McCain's presidential campaign. Not as strong as HBO's "Recount" from a few years back but equally appealing. As a political drama, it makes for engaging viewing. I wonder how in God's name such an imbecile woman was not only nominated to be the vice president of the most powerful country in the world, but also how did she win in Alaska?

American Grindhouse
½

Good documentary even though I think they focused only on the idea that grind houses were just a place to promote sex in the USA.

Play Misty for Me
½

Was this a preview from "Misery?" I thought to be pretty good, even though Clint Eastwood and John Larch did not try at all on the acting part. Jessica Walter gives us an amazing performance though.

Everyone Says I Love You

Boring! It's painless to sit through. Not even a good cast could save this one.

To Rome with Love

One of the few Woody Allen movie's which he plays and is not boring. Actually the best story was the one with Woody Allen and the opera singer. That one was very funny. Pretty good movie as a whole. Good choice on the casting, but the story with Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig and Ellen Page was kind of pointless. Roberto Benigni plays himself as usual, but he is still funny and the other Italian actors were very good. Woody Allen chose the best places of Rome (a better job that he did in Midnight in Paris).

Jesus Christ Superstar
½

Even though the songs can be pretty entertaining, the rest of the movie soon starts to get boring.

Phantom of the Opera

Pretty good, but I'm guessing the theater play is better since it has been on for so long.

Black Caesar
Black Caesar(1973)

It's pretty much the old version of American Gangster! Bad acting and the plot is bad developed.

Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy
½

I love this documentaries that tell the legacy of popular franchises. Really good. Much better than some of the last movies from the series.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

It had the potential, but it could be so much better than the original one. Awful cast.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare

Thank God, they brought Wes Craven back and Heather Langenkamp back. This one was actually decent, even though we already saw this story in many other horror movies.

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

Please, just stop making Freddy Krueger movies. The last one was already awful, this one can be worst.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child

The series lost its way. Really crappy movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
½

From this movie on, Krueger movies start to be more disgusting than actually scary. There were a bunch of scenes you gotta have s strong stomach not to throw up.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors

This one was much better than the last one. It was good that they brought Heather Langenkamp back and we had the chance to see Patricia Arquette and Laurence Frishburne in a Freddy Krueger movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge

What the hell happened here? One of the worst movies from the franchise. Big disappointment, since the first one was so good.

A Nightmare on Elm Street
½

A true horror classic! Good movie, plot, and believe it or not, good acting for a horror movie. Real American classic.

Metallica: Some Kind of Monster

Boring documentary. As a fan of the band I am very disappointed. It only shows them fighting all the time.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
½

Typical Oliver Stone movie. The plot could be a little bit better. Michael Douglas is better as a villain than whatever he tried to be at the end of this movie.

Wall Street
Wall Street(1987)
½

Really good but the ending was weak. Seriously?!?! Michael Douglas best actor for this movie? Charlie Sheen was also good, and the plot was pretty interesting.

Memento
Memento(2000)
½

I really liked the way that the movie was filmed. The thing about find out who murdered his wife was complicated. Interesting kind of movie.

Escape From Alcatraz

Really good movie. Perfect for the kind of character that Clint Eastwood likes to play. The suspense was great.

El Arriero
El Arriero(2009)
½

Pretty good. The story was a little bit cliche, but it was entertaining. The end could be a little bit better though.

Shine a Light
½

Not so much of a documentary as I thought it was. It's pretty much a Rolling Stone's concert with a few old interviews in the middle. It was pretty good. I liked to see the presence of Buddy Guy, Jack White, and the sexy Christina Aguilera.

16 Blocks
16 Blocks(2006)

The plot was kind of dumb, but I like how it starts so fast and so into it. Action scenes were good. Hollywood should stop trying to make rappers become actors. It usually doesn't work well.

Chinatown
Chinatown(1974)

It was a good suspense. Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway were great together. It can be a little bit disturbing with the whole incestuous thing, but still pretty good.

Hide
Hide(2008)

It tries to be like Bonnie & Clyde or Natural Born Killers, but it was pretty painful to watch.

Men in Black III

It was entertaining. Not an extremely good story, but the ending when Agent J finds out the truth about himself can be pretty touching. Josh Brolin was good as the young version of Agent K. They could have brought some characters from the first movie.

Men in Black II
½

Boring. Not a good story. Bad sequel. Bad choice of a villain.

Men in Black
Men in Black(1997)

The story was pretty good actually. Finally an alien movie that the plot is not about them being in war with us. I loved the thing that many people in our society were actually E.T.s. I just didn't like the end. Good cast choice.

Ed Wood
Ed Wood(1994)

This is one of the best Tim Burton's movies ever. Great story and I was surprised to know that it is a true story. Johnny Depp plays a different role from the serious, kind of sad character that he usually plays. Martin Landau is the big star in my opinion giving us an outstanding performance as Bela Lugosi. The movie was actually funny in a ridiculous way. Really good movie.

La Vie en Rose (La Mome)
½

Superb! A must-see! Marion Cotillard gives us a real show. She was amazing as Edith Piaf. The acting was good and the soundtrack even better. Some scenes seem way too surreal, but the plot was a good romance/drama. One of the best movies of 2007.

The Visitor
The Visitor(2008)
½

Really good movie. The ending might be a little bit disappointed to some people, but the story is very original and entertaining. Great acting by most part. Richard Kind had such a potential to be a great actor and it is pretty sad to see him doing such an useless 2-minute-scene in this one.

We Are The Night

This was pretty bad. It didn't have romance, thriller, action, seduction (like most vampire movies have), nothing. It just shows 4 girls with different personalities having fun and spending money.

Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow
½

Tried to hard to bring the same humor from the first movies. Still not very good though. The scene with the egg being thrown from one mouth to the other was funny and disgusting at the same time. I hope this is the last one.

Police Academy 6 - City Under Siege

Definitely the worst Police Academy movie! Haven't they got tired of playing the same characters with exactly the same jokes over and over again? There was not plot at all and no action scenes. What the heck was the character played by Kenneth Mars? They should have stooped long time ago with these movies.

Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach

It is very different from the last movies. They are not in a mission anymore, it's more like a summer vacation. Replacing Steve Guttenberg, who was the funniest guy in the series, for Matt McCoy was huge mistake. In the end you can see some ridiculous action scenes and the movie lacks on humor.
*PS: The bad guys in the movie look more like the 3 stooges.

Police Academy 4 - Citizens on Patrol

Definitely one of the worst movies from the series. I can't believe Sharon Stone is in the cast's list. At least they brought G.W. Bailey back, but many characters who were added to the series in the last 2 movies should not be in this one. Humor is almost nonexistent in this one. Also the people who played Tackleberry's family in law are not funny.

Police Academy 3: Back in Training

It was pretty bad that they took off G.W. Bailey from the series and brought Bobcat Goldthwait who is not funny and has some serious issues. The series lost a lot in the last movie and this one. Lance Kinsey's character is also not funny. That Asian character who in the beginning of the movie seemed to be one of the main characters added nothing to the plot.

Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment

It's not as good as the first one. Didn't like that they took G.W. Bailey out of the series. The humor started to get weaker

Police Academy
½

A real American classic! Steve Guttenberg, G.W. Bailey, and Michael Winslow brings us one of the funniest comedies from the 80's. It's a pity that most of the cast are absent from the media or Hollywood in the last couple of decades. Very entertaining.

Coming to America

I don't think there is one single funny joke or scene in the movie. Typical Eddie Murphy's movie. The story wasn't bad but it was just painful to watch.

Your Highness

Not as funny as it might seem. It was just a bunch of vulgarity and it lacked in a bunch of other things. I wonder how good actresses, such as Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel accepted to act in this piece of crap.

Thor
Thor(2011)
½

Better than I expected. Wonder why it didn't get famous? Pretty good movie.

Diary of a Chambermaid

Good for its time. Paulette Goddard gives us an amazing performance.

Twisted
Twisted(2004)

It wasn't the worst thriller movie, but it was very weak and the plot was poor. The acting was not convincing at all.

Celebrity
Celebrity(1998)

The plot was pretty good, but once you start to watch too many Woody Allen movies, all his characters started to seem alike. Still it was pretty funny, but it could be shorter.

More Than a Game

Great documentary! A lot of people thought it focused too much just on LeBron James, but not. I think the story about the five guys in the St. Vincent's team and the story about the coach who didn't believe in himself was great. If you like basketball, is a good movie to see some great moves from a young LeBron.

The Last Exorcism
½

The ending was a little bit ridiculous and it reminded me 'Rosemary's Baby.' The acting wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Not a good scary movie.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose
½

Disappointing! I was expecting a horror movie, but it is actually a court room drama with a few thriller scenes. the acting wasn't that great either.

Exorcist: The Beginning

This movie could actually be the perfect sequel for "The Exorcist." This movie was actually better than both sequels for the original one. Good plot.

The Exorcist III

It could be better. It's one of those movies that were made just because of the success of the first ones, but it makes the audience very disappointed. Unnecessary!

Exorcist II: The Heretic
½

Good sequel. Of course that it is not as good as the first one, but still can be scary and entertaining. Linda Blair is once again great in the movie.

The Exorcist
The Exorcist(1973)

Classic horror movie. No wonder why it is still considered one of the best horror movies ever made. Great story and acting was good by most part. It was actually more disgusting than scary, but still a classic.

God Bless America

Funny! For fans of dark-humor. Interesting satire of how American people are dominated by stupid commercial pop-culture that doesn't add nothing to society. The main characters do what most people would like to, if they could with no consequences. It's a brilliant idea from Bobcat Goldthwait's who makes a living by being kind of a ridiculous character in most of his movies. Some scenes can be funny and extremely gory at the same time. The first couple of minutes which Joel Murray's character shoots the neighbor's baby gives an idea what the movie is going to be like. The highlight in the movie can also be the role played by Tara Lynne Barr, who gives us an amazing performance for someone who is just starting the acting career.

Colors
Colors(1988)

Remembers me a lot a movie called "Bad Boys" with Sean Penn when he was a young man. The plot was pretty good and Robert Duvall gives us an amazing performance. Really good movie. I miss the old cop movies when it was more real, and it didn't have so many special effects and martial arts.

The Forgotten

What the heck was that? The main idea wasn't so bad, but what happened in the middle of the movie? What was that guy that flies and doesn't die? Julianne Moore, you used to make good movies. What happened to you?

Shooter
Shooter(2007)

The end was pretty much what all of us dream about doing. Haha. It's amazing how Mark Wahlberg acts the same in every single movie he makes, except 'The Departed.'

Buena Vida Delivery
½

The end could be a little bit better. The plot was good, even though it had a constant angst.

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi

Personally, I think that was the worst movies from the franchise. A bunch of pointless creatures were created and it seemed like the first 1 hour of the movie was just there to make viewers spend some time in front of the screen, because it has nothing to do with the whole story. And then, the group goes to a jungle where they become friends with the "Care Bears" who help the them to save day. It was ridiculous.

Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

Good as the first one. Has more details. Explains the story better. More action than the episode IV and it was visually more exciting. I'm not a big fan of science-fiction movies but this one was pretty good. Harrison Ford's humor makes the story a little bit more entertaining

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope

It was certainly the best movie from the whole franchise. George Lucas gives a touch of magic, humor, action, etc. The robots, monsters, villains, creatures, and warriors created by him will always stay in people's minds. Even the ones who never watched this movie know a lot about this real American classic.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
½

It was definitely one of the best movies from the franchise. Great end or should I say beginning for Darth Vader and the combat scenes were great. It's funny how in the first movies the robots seem not to have such an importance for the story. Great job by all the cast, except Natalie Portman.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Certainly it was better than the Phantom Menace. The main characters started to get developed in this one. It has a lot of more action.

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
½

After many years without a Star Wars movie been released, this one made the fans a little bit disappointed. It had no romance, no humor, not too much action. This one misses a character like the one played by Harrison Ford in the last ones.

Crab Trap (El vuelco del Cangrejo)

It was very slow, boring, and pointless.

Mighty Aphrodite
½

Surprisingly good. I hate movies that Woody Allen acts but this one was actually pretty good and funny. Mira Sorvino shocked some people with her acting in this movie but it was good enough for an Oscar.

The Rum Diary

One of the worst movies with Johnny Depp. Extremely boring!

O Contador De Histórias
½

One of the best Brazilian movies ever made. I'm surprised how the media did not talk much about this movie, which has a great story and the cast did an amazing job, especially Maria de Medeiros. It might be a little bit slow in the beginning, but it becomes really entertaining from the middle to the end. It has a lot of touching scenes.

American Reunion

Finally someone has the brilliant idea to bring the 'American Pie' series back to what it used to be. The plot is like most of the movies from the series and it has a bunch of references to the first movie that I would recommend to watch before seen this one. It was great how they brought it up pretty much the whole cast from the first one, but some figures should have appeared more in this one. Recommended especially for 'American Pie' fans.

American Pie Presents: Book of Love

I wonder why Eugene Levy still accepts to do these crappy 'American Pie B-movies?'

American Pie Presents: Beta House

American Pie series became one of those crappy obscene pictures that go straight to DVD.

American Pie 5: The Naked Mile
½

Oh my God! What the hell happened to the 'American Pie' series? It was like watching an erotic movie and it wasn't funny at all.

American Pie Presents: Band Camp
½

It might not have worth it the try to make an 'American Pie' movie without the main characters from the series.

American Wedding
½

It was my favorite one of the American Pie movies. Sean William Scott was funny and did a good job, becoming the main character in the movie. It has some funny and disgusting scenes like the other movies.

American Pie 2
½

Better than the first one. It can be a soft-core video with some funny scenes.

American Pie
American Pie(1999)

A real classic of pop culture. Extremely funny. How horny somebody has to be to f**k a pie? A remarkable cast and the plot was not original, but it got stuck in a generation's mind.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

It had the potential but it got lost in the middle of the movie. It was boring after awhile.

Moneyball
Moneyball(2011)

This is the best movie about baseball ever made. I just think that the real genius behind Oakland's success was Peter Brand and not Billy Beane.

The Wave
The Wave(2011)

Excellent educational movie. It was a little bit too dramatized in some parts, but the plot was great and the soundtrack even better.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

Extremely boring & incredibly pointless. Thomas Horn plays one of the most annoying characters of the last years. How was this movie nominated for an Oscar?

Carnage
Carnage(2011)

Interesting plot, but it didn't seem real. John Reilly starts to prove that he can actually act, while Christoph Waltz plays a very similar character to the one he did in Inglorious Basterds.

King of California
½

It wasn't entertaining. It wasn't funny. It wasn't the best roles for Michael Douglas neither Evan Rachel Wood.

Meu Nome Não é Johnny (My Name Ain't Johnny)
½

The plot took forever to actually go somewhere. Selton Mello was fantastic. Scenes with drugs and the soundtrack were great. Good Brazilian movie though.

The Hunger Games
½

Weird characters with weird clothes in the most predictable movie of the year. I thought it would have more adventure and action, but it's nothing more than a chick's flick. I didn't read the books, but the movie was disappointing.

Unlawful Entry

Good plot, but what in God's name was Ray Liotta's death in the movie? He took almost 2 minutes to fall after being shot.

My Week with Marilyn
½

Not that great! Not a good movie. The creators knew how to exploit the marketing involving the life of Marilyn Monroe.

Barb Wire
Barb Wire(1996)

I still can't believe I actually watched that! One of the worst movies I've seen in my life. I just give half star because it shows Pamela Anderson wearing the most sexy outfits. Don't waste your time watching this.

21 Jump Street
½

It could have been funnier. Plot was way too weak. Jonha Hill and Rob Riggle pretty make the movie watchable. You can have some laughs, but don't expect much.

Gigante
Gigante(2009)

Interesting kind of love story. Creepy in a certain way by American standards. Not so many dialogues. Almost none to be honest.

What Doesn't Kill You

Pretty good plot. Acting was OK, but honestly I wasn't expecting something great either.

Helter Skelter

Steve Railsback is just flawless in this movie. Great movie about Charles Manson murders.

War Horse
War Horse(2011)

One of the most boring war movies ever. There is no doubt that the story involving the horse and the families was very touching, but still could have been better.

Monty Python's The Meaning of Life

This was definitely the best movie from the Monty Python crew. Songs were better created and performed than jokes. You can still have a few laughs though. Beginning was disappointing, but then gets a little bit better.

Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl

Even though I'm not a Monty Python fan, I would actually like to see a comedy play made by them. Some jokes were funny and the audience responded well.

Monty Python's Life of Brian

It was definitely the worst Monty Python movie. Not funny. In some parts you actually have to struggle to stay awake.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
½

The joke that it was supposed to be the funniest in the whole movie was "knights who say 'Ni'", which I refused to believe that it was even a joke! Not funny at all. i give the credit for some possible criticism to the government or religion, but still a very weak movie.

Monty Python's And Now for Something Completely Different

It wasn't actually bad. Some scenes were kind of funny, but I'm not a big Monty Python's fan. Every time John Cleese showed up in a weird/random situation saying "and now for something completely different" was hilarious.

Safe House
Safe House(2012)

The plot was OK but it took forever to develop itself. Denzel Washington plays AGAIN Denzel Washington, which means, he only knows how to play one kind of character.

Project X
Project X(2012)
½

The beginning was hilarious, then it becomes a little bit too frustrating, then the end was OK. It was very similar to movies like Superbad and The Hangover. Oliver Cooper pretty much brought the movie up to a level of comedy where most movies in the genre seem to be now.

Dot the I
Dot the I(2003)

I thought it was OK. The plot was interesting but the acting was kind of weak. It tries to be an independent movie but it had a "Hollywood-style."

The Descendants

Surprisingly good movie with George Clooney. I think what I like the most about this movie was the fact that it shows that many people in Hawaii live another boring life like any other suburb in some neighborhood in the USA.

Gabriela
Gabriela(1983)

Oh my God! This crap is considered a true Brazilian classic?!?! This movie was poorly developed, the acting is considered almost amateur and the plot wasn't that good either. How did Sonia Braga became famous and moved to the USA? She almost doesn't speak. The movie just shows her naked almost all the time.

What Just Happened?

Kind of odd movie. Not funny at all.

A Walk to Remember

Typical chick's flick! Good plot though and the ending was great. Acting was weak.

La tigre e la neve (The Tiger and the Snow)

Nice story, but not so well developed. Roberto Benigni plays himself and the jokes are mostly not funny. It was entertaining though.

The Patriot
The Patriot(2000)

Really good plot and acting. Most of the movie was way too violent, like "Braveheart" also with Mel Gibson.

11:14
11:14(2003)

Great thriller! Amazing how it shows the story from many angles. Most of the stuff that happened in the movie ended poorly explained, but the movie was great.

Kings of South Beach
½

That movie sucked pretty bad. The action scenes were not good, the fights were ridiculous and the car chasing ended out of the blue. The acting was OK but not great. Most of the movie was just scenes with a lot of people dancing and drinking at the club. The scene which the main character meets a girl on the beach was pretty much dull and added nothing to the story.

E poi lo chiamarono il magnifico, (A Man from the East )

What a boring movie! Almost fell asleep many times during the movie.

Dracula - Dead and Loving It

Leslie Nielsen made an amazing movie. He makes any movie seem funny. Great performance from Peter MacNicol also.

American Pimp
½

Interesting kind of documentary. Funny in some parts and at the same time shocking. This movie does not judge whether to be a pimp is right or wrong. Good idea by the Hughes brothers.

MacGruber
MacGruber(2010)

Hollywood please stop giving roles to Will Forte. He is not talented. He is not funny. He is not a good actor. The movie wasn't funny and the story was just dumb.

Nicotina
Nicotina(2004)
½

One of the best Mexican movies ever. I wonder why Mexicans love to make movies with cruel endings? Interesting plot and acting was good by most part. Some scenes were kind of funny.

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore
½

Boring! Ellen Burnstyn already deserved the Academy Award of Best actress just to have to handle that extremely annoying kid.

The Reader
The Reader(2008)
½

One of the best movies of the year. Kate Winslet totally deserved the Oscar for this movie. The plot and ending were great.

Bordertown
Bordertown(2007)
½

Really good story. I love those movies that talks about social issues in some parts of the world even though it seems like nobody does anything about it. Jennifer Lopez, believe it or not, did a decent job with this movie. Antonio Banderas was the one who did a weak job. I didn't know Sonia Braga knew how to speak Spanish so well.

Kill the Irishman
½

One of the best mobster movies since Casino. The story was great and the real scenes in the movie fitted perfectly. What a surprising performance from Ray Stevenson. I'm surprised that this movie did not receive the attention of the media that it deserves.

Frankenstein
Frankenstein(1931)

Really good movie for it's time. Good story and great effects.

The Illusionist

The story was poorly developed what made a movie with some good potential become boring.

Palermo Shooting

Interesting plot but most of the movie seem so surreal. It looks like everything was just a dream; nothing more.

Jackass 3.5
Jackass 3.5(2011)

Same shit as Jackass 3D!

Jackass 3
Jackass 3(2010)

Some scenes were extremely disgusting. Just a few scenes were nice to see in 3D. Jokes are getting less funny.

Jackass 2.5
Jackass 2.5(2007)

They need to stop. Is not funny anymore.

Jackass: Number Two
½

Same dumb shit and even more disgusting. Some scenes were gross and not as funny as the show used to be.

Jackass - The Movie

The beginning was funny, but then starts to be disgusting. Most of the scenes in Japan were not funny. The best scene was actually the opening theme.

Mein Führer - Die wirklich wahrste Wahrheit über Adolf Hitler (My Fuhrer)

Interesting movie. Not as funny as I thought it would be, but you can have some laughs and the idea of Hitler's character in the movie was great. Good ending.

Hugo
Hugo(2011)
½

Great movie. I don't know if it is good enough for 11 nominations to the Academy Awards, but it is definitely one of the best movies released in the last years. The acting was good by most part and the soundtrack and special effects were great and fit the movie perfectly. Martin Scorsese did an amazing job as a director and it is definitely one of Ben Kingsley's best performances. The scene where that old guy gives Hugo a copy of the Robin Hood's book was kind of pointless. The scenes with the old movies bringing back the magic in those people's lives was great.

Elephant
Elephant(2003)
½

A movie that you should watch just for the last 20 minutes. It doesn't exploit too much the violent as many might think so. The other 1 hour of movie is just people walking inside a high school.

Mesrine: Public Enemy #1 (Mesrine: L'ennemi public no. 1)
½

Not as good as the first one. I think that they exploit too much the scenes with sex and shooting (not necessarily together) and the plot was a little bit weak for its potential.

Mesrine: Killer Instinct (Mesrine: L'instinct de mort)
½

Great mobster movie. It doesn't focus so much on the mafia though. It shows a lot of Jacques Mesrine's personal life. The scene of the jailbreak was amazing.

Human Zoo
Human Zoo(2009)
½

Big disappointment. Not what I expected at all. The movie doesn't have one particular topic. It's about the conflict in the old Yugoslavia, about the life of an immigrant in France, about organized crime, about relationship issues, etc. It gets lost in many topics and doesn't exploit none well.

J. Edgar
J. Edgar(2011)

Great! The acting was good by most part, it was surprising the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio was not nominated for an Academy Award. This movie brings a more humanistic view on J. Edgar Hoover, who is one of the most feared Americans of the last century. I think that the movie didn't focused so much on the Communist hunt that Mr. Hoover was promoting in the USA during the Cold War.

Matando Cabos

Surprisingly good! This movie was very funny and the plot was kind of interesting. The acting was OK. What the hell is that midget fighter character?

Guilty by Suspicion

The best part is the end when Robert DeNiro goes on trial to defend his rights as an American citizen. The rest of the movie it just shows the FBI ruining with his life; nothing special.

Wonderland
Wonderland(2003)

How I hadn't heard about this movie before? I think it's because the real story in this movie goes around a porn star and this is morally not accepted by most Americans. The story is great and I liked how it shows both versions of the crime.

Crime Novel
Crime Novel(2005)

A "must-see"! The background is the social and political situation in Italy troubled by the terrorism and dangerous liaisons of a Christian state and the organized crime. The film mixes violence, friendship, betrayal, love, generosity, beauty, hate, revenge. Love and women have a central role in the motivation of the protagonists in the collapse of the certainties and the impulses of criminals. The plot is amazing and acting is good by most part. Good choice of songs for a soundtrack.

Mindwalk
Mindwalk(1990)
½

It was OK. Interesting history and discussions that the dialogues bring it up. I thought like I was in a philosophy class during the whole movie. The discussion about the meaning of life was kind of broad.

Nixon
Nixon(1995)

What's the deal about Nixon's envy JFK? Amazing movie. Anthony Hopkins gives us one of his best performances ever. Awesome cinematography and the real scenes included in the movie were also great. The scenes about Nixon's speeches were also brilliant. Definitely one of the best political movies ever.

Breathless
Breathless(1961)

I thought that this movie was insanely boring. Nothing happens. The acting is not that great either.

Straight Time

Good performance by Dustin Hoffman. Not too many people know about this entertaining movie. Good cast.

Fidel
Fidel(2002)
½

Great movie. It tells many facts about Castro's life including some romances, family, his time out of Cuba, and of course the revolution. Great acting by all the cast. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that after the revolution, the American movie showed somethings of what the Americans think about him and his government there and not really true facts.

The Artist
The Artist(2011)

Surprisingly great movie. The idea of making a black & white, silent movie nowadays about a "silent-movie" star from the 20's was superb. The acting was great, especially by the main couple of the story. They totally deserve an academy award. Great cinematography and the music were amazing.

Alive
Alive(1993)

One of the best stories from last century. Amazing plot, great cast and the cinematography was great. The ending was a little bit too fast, but great movie, full of details from the real story and the scenes of cannibalism were not as disgusting as many people would have imagined.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

This movie was actually very good. I hate movies with Hugh Grant. I don't think he is a good actor, he is just famous because girls think he is good-looking. In this movie he did a good job though. The plot was entertaining and some scenes were actually very funny.

The Lost City

Honestly, I can't explain what happened here. The plot didn't seem bad at all. The movie has a great cast and I'm a huge of Cuba's history, but somehow this movie was extremely boring to me. Big disappointment.

Nowhere Boy
Nowhere Boy(2010)

One of the best movies about a musician ever. Many people watched this movie expecting something about The Beatles, but it's actually a movie exclusively about John Lennon before the fame. Great movie. Great acting. A "must-see"

Man on a Ledge

I don't understand why this movie has been so criticized by the media. it's exactly what I was expecting. Action/Suspense movie which probably the acting and plot are not that great, but you go for the thriller and action scenes. The acting was not that bad actually. Genesis Rodriguez and Jamie Bell's character little discussion was a little bit annoying.

Glory
Glory(1989)
½

Really good. Surprising good movie with Denzel Washington and Matthew Broderick. The story was really good.

Margin Call
Margin Call(2011)
½

This movie was very boring. The suspense in the air was good, but it seems like the movie ended without solving everything that it could be made.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

It was OK. The action scenes were good, but I think they could put more action scenes. This movie has more dialogues. It seems a little bit like The Bourne trilogy. Not as good as the one before, but it was "watchable."

Mission: Impossible III

For me this one was the best of the trilogy. Tom Cruise and Philip Seymour Hoffman did a good job. Tom Cruise brought it back a little bit of what was missing in the action movies.

Mission: Impossible 2
½

Powerful action scenes. It was good, but the producers could request a prettier girl for the movie. The story also could be better. Nice cinematography.

Mission: Impossible
½

This is one of the few triologies that the sequels are better than the first one. Tom Cruise was OK. The story could be better by it was OK for a famous TV show that became movie.

Witnesses
Witnesses(2004)
½

The plot wasn't bad, but I still got a little disappointed with this movie.

Terribly Happy (Frygtelig lykkelig)
½

This movie was so creepy. It also reminded me a little bit that American movie called "Fargo." Characters were interesting and plot was pretty decent. it started pretty slow, but it was good.

The Dinner Game (Le Dîner de cons)
½

It was ok. I was expecting much more to be honest. The main character was not too funny, but annoying.

Czlowiek z Zelaza (Man of Iron)
½

Very good. This is a good film on an important piece of history that had huge repercussion on East-West relations.

Uzak (Distant)

Extremely boring! There are almost none dialogues and the plot is boring.

Autumn Spring (Babí léto)

The story was beautiful and it had some funny moments in the movie. The main character was kind of annoying though. Also it can be very slow in the first half of it.

The Trap (Klopka)

Very similar to the American movie "John Q", with Denzel Washington. Really good drama. Powerful, disturbing story set in post war Serbian Belgrade, where corruption is rampant, and human life is expendable. This is one movie that will really linger with you later, as you grapple with the moral choices made. Highly recommended DVD rental.

The Strange Case Of Angelica

Just a bunch of weird images that most don't make sense. The dialogues were weak and the plot was dumb. The most lively acting was delivered by a corpse.

Bride Flight
Bride Flight(2011)

Boring. Nice plot but poorly developed. It wasn't my cup of tea.

The Passion of Anna (En Passion)

I liked how Bergman mix passion and violence in the perfect way. The movie is a beautiful song of unhappiness.

Bless You Prison

Nicoleta Valery Grossu had a very similar life in jail to what Jews had on concentration camps during WWII. A little bit too hard to watch the torture scenes. Good story, movie was poorly produced though.

My Summer of Love

Extremely boring! The film was either poorly edited and poorly written.

The Last Kiss (El Último Beso)
½

The plot was dull. The love story of the main couple was good, but the group of guys were just annoying. It could be better.

Der Tunnel (The Tunnel)

A "must-see!" Suspense is the right word! The characters are specific and interesting enough that any clichà (C)s present pass nearly unnoticed, due to the intensity of the narrative. All around great production, acting, cinematography.

Reprise
Reprise(2006)
½

Fast and energetic. It might have gotten a little bit dark. The imagery is beautiful, the acting is top notch and the pacing is exciting.

Csillagosok, katonák (The Red and The White)

Not good. No plot. Not too many dialogues either. It was basically one hour and thirty minutes of watching men getting exterminated.

Everybody's Famous!

Surprisingly good! Hilarious! i confess that I wasn't expecting much about this movie, but luckily I was wrong and I'm glad I watched this. I can see why it received a best foreign film nomination at the Oscars.

A Film with Me in It

Hilarious! The line between reality and fantasy, fact and fiction gets blurry as the film gets inside the mind of the writer and director of a film. Really good dark comedy.

Autumn Ball (Sügisball)

Good. A slice of Estonian life illustrating the fruits of socialism and its negative effect on the human psyche â" lost bemused people living in boxes trying to be happy (paraphrased by one of the characters). I like the political message included in the movie. It is a little bit poorly directed though and the dialogues are not the main thing here.

Pellet (El Bola)
½

Really good! Just got a little bit disappointed with the end, since I bet most viewers were hoping that something bad would happen to the little boy's father. Besides the obvious, it's a movie that perfectly captures the deep emotions involved in two outcast teenage boys becoming friends.

Landscapes in the Mist (Topio stin omichli)

Surprisingly good. It might be a little slow in the first half of it, but it is important for the construction of character in the story. Direction was amazing.

All the King's Men

Really good movie for its time. An interesting story about the metamorphosis of a real backwoods hick to a manipulative sociopath politician. It was a fantastic film with a great message and lots of entertainment value.

All The King's Men

Sean Penn was over the top. He gives a more modern attitude for the politician compared to the 1949 version of the movie. Acting in general was pretty good. Kate Winslet did not do much though. Cinematography and soundtrack were excellent. You can notice that the accents are fake. Especially James Gandolfini's accent.

Bandidas
Bandidas(2006)

One of the worst movies ever. Like one guy here said "Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz in the same movie is like porn!" Those 2 are the only reasons why you should watch this crap.

The Strangers

I understand that it was based on true events and they still don't know exactly what happened there for sure, but the plot was just too weak. The dialogues were pretty much non-existent. I think the whole script for the movie must have been just 1 page.

Daredevil
Daredevil(2003)

Ben Affleck is the main character of the movie! Do I need to say something else?

Lonely Hearts

I thought to be extremely boring. Jared Leto's acting was pathetic, John Travolta seemed tired the whole movie, and Salma Hayek just looked good, no acting.

Inside Job
Inside Job(2010)
½

Great! Inside Job is a relentless, accurate and highly entertaining look at the financial meltdown. Charles Ferguson, with narration by Matt Damon, interviews the real-life people who have had a part in the deregulation of Wall Street, from the Reagan administration through to the Obama administration. Really good interviews. Interesting documentary.

Facing Windows
½

It's one of those movies that teaches us about ourselves. Giovanna Mezzogiorno was excellent. The movie very artfully intertwined the lives of these people in an meaningful way.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
½

After some disappointing sequences, Pirates of the Caribbean creates a good plot and brings back a little bit of its magic back to the big screen. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are great again. The only problem that I saw in this movie was the abuse of special effects in most scenes.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End

Awful ending. The actors seemed to be tired of this story and there were too many weird scenes. It was an abuse of special effects and the plot was even that great. Interesting how they put Keith Richards (Johnny Depp's inspiration for his character) as Jack Sparrow's dad in the movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

It was OK. Better than the third, but not in the same level as the first one. I just didn't like how it end. It didn't have the same magic of the first one and it was a preview for what it would become a failure.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

The first one was really good. Johnny Depp was awesome as a drunk pirate! This movie was a extremely successful bet from Disney Studios since the whole movie was based on a pirate ride that they have at their theme park. Very good.

Airheads
Airheads(1994)
½

A little bit entertaining. The plot and acting were ridiculous though.

Walkout
Walkout(2006)
½

It was good because it shows the Hispanic students fighting for their rights, showing scenes such as the police beating them and an interview with the real guy in the end, but as a art movie was not very good. Acting was mediocre!

Law Abiding Citizen

Great! Here is a terrific thriller about a brilliant sociopath who orchestrates a series of high-profile murders that grip the city of Philadelphia - all from inside his jail cell. It had some scenes which were just too much, such as the cellphone who shoots people and the cave that takes to one to inside the solitary cell inside prison. Besides those details it was really good.

The Complete Metropolis

It was really good. The restored version is better, longer and explains in a better way some of the parts of the movie. It doesn't loose its originality to the old one.

Metropolis
Metropolis(1927)

Good but some parts were not well explained. It was a really good movie for its time though. A classic! This really is a propaganda film, not sure if the director was actively anti-capitalist but that is the perspective of the theme.

It's Kind of a Funny Story

It was good. Zach Galifianakis gives us a great performance. Anyways, it could be a little bit better though.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
½

Hilariously funny! This movie had me cracking up the whole time. Honestly I didn't expect to be good at all. These guys work great off of each other. Will Ferrell did a great job. Definitely, one of his best movies.

Europa Europa

Good! This film does a brilliant job of potraying the identity crisis of a young Jewish boy torn by war, idealism, loyalty, and his own psycho-spiritual development.

A Hard Day's Night

For a Beatle's fan this is a great movie. However, the script is poor, the scenes are not funny, and it only show them as dumb rockstars who just want to party. I liked how it show the beatlemania from the 60's with all the girls screaming every where they go and also the performances included in the movie are great.

Lullaby
Lullaby(2006)

The story wasn't bad but poorly developed. Melissa Leo's performance was excellent. The rest of the cast seems a little amateur. The suspense takes care of the movie in most scenes.

Gaza Strip
Gaza Strip(2002)
½

I thought this documentary to be extremely boring. Most scenes they just show kids talking about all the times they almost got shot. No facts are presented here, just people's emotions. The capture of most scenes were very poor.

Little Caesar

Good. Scenes are often rather static. The main caper scene is reduced to a somewhat confusing montage. A lot of the acting is rather flat. The writing was really good though.

Animal Factory

Good, but predictable. It didn't offer too many surprises. What it did offer was good acting which contributed to the portrayal of the different character types residing in and adapting to prisons.

The Man Who Cried

This movie was so boring. The ending sucks, but so does the middle and the beginning. The first 15 minutes were actually promising, then it's downhill from there.

Carlos
Carlos(2010)

Really good movie. The last hour started to get sort of boring though. Very powerful beginning. Scenes at the OPEC headquarters were great and direction was good too. Interesting selection of songs for the soundtrack.

Welcome to the Rileys
½

Really good. Gandolfini's strange accent goes in and out, but he delivers an excellent performance, as do Leo and Stewart.

Waste Land
Waste Land(2010)

Amazing! Surprisingly good and interesting documentary about a Brazilian artist who has a vision of turning garbage into art with the help of local folks who pick recyclables for a living at the Worlds biggest wasteland. To witness the transformation of these poor people finding new meaning in life is not only touching, it is truly wonderful!

Live from Baghdad

It was fun. Good story of how CNN lucked out and was able to report as Baghdad was being bombed. Not great, but entertaining. The chemistry between Keaton and Bonham Carter was great.

Stone
Stone(2010)

Total piece of crap. Great cast but the plot was weak and the movie became a big disappointment.

Assalto ao Banco Central (Federal Bank Heist)
½

One of the best Brazilian movies released in the last years. The story is real and it was very well developed in this movie. Some funny details were included to make the movie more entertaining. Great cast. Sex scenes were expendable.

American Me
American Me(1992)
½

This movie is a classic for people who like mobster movies. Great cast, action, stunts, and story line.

The Blind Side
½

One of the best movies from the last years. Just when you think all the Hollywood Producers have all fallen asleep at the wheel, someone takes a chance and makes a wonderful movie. I don't know if Sandra Bullock's performance was good enough to give her an Oscar, but most of the cast did a really good job. The story was amazing.

Paranormal Activity 3

I don't know what to say. It was pretty good. Some scenes were very scary, but the movies from this series are starting to look all the same to me. In every movie the ghosts do the same things, the guy who is crazy about filming everything always die in the end. Even though some things in this movie were not well explained, I think there is no reason to do another movie from the series.

Paranormal Activity 2

This one of the few examples when the sequel is actually better than the first movie. Had more jump moments than the 1st and a stronger story. It starts very slow like the first one but the last 30 minutes make this maybe a real scary movie. It's not completely necessary that you watch the first movie before you watch this one, but it would make easier to understand the ending. It was really good. Better than the first one.

Paranormal Activity

When I decided to watch this movie, I thought it would be like "Blair Witch", but I was so glad it was not. It is so much better. The camera angles and this movie actually shows some weird stuff happening. Actually pretty good considering a practically nil budget and homemade feel. The rating mentions something about sexuality. There is no sex or nudity at all. I just thought it could be more scary. The last 10-15 minutes are the scariest parts. It was pretty good.

Red State
Red State(2011)
½

What the hell was that? Kevin Smith totally lost it! That movie was awful. It started very interesting, but after 20 minutes it became awful. Good acting from most part of the cast though.

Kiss The Girls

It was good. It reminded me a lot "The Silence of the Lambs." Morgan Freeman did a great job. The suspense stays until the end.

The Ides of March

Really good. Ryan Grosling does an amazing job. The whole cast is actually great with big names such as Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti and George Clooney. The story was good.

No Man's Land
½

This well-deserved Oscar winner for Best Foreign Language Film is a modern examination of the futility of war. I liked it show the United Nations being very ineffective like most of the times it is.

Asesino en serio

Some scenes were funny. Actually, the whole script was a joke. Acting wasn't the worst, but most of the movie is just about prostitutes in Mexico City.

Lenny
Lenny(1974)

This is a movie that is certainly not worth watching. It was very boring.

The Corporation
½

Great! "The Corporation" is a fascinating, darkly humorous, sprawling monster of a film about the history of the corporation and its ever-growing impact on our society. A very interesting account of the corporate personhood debate, marketing and patent law. Worth watching it!

Buffalo '66
Buffalo '66(1998)

This was extremely boring. Christina Ricci was able to show less expressions than she did in Adams Family.

127 Hours
127 Hours(2010)

I thought that this movie was really boring. It's basically 1 hour and 30 minutes of the guy's hallucinations and suffer. It could be better developed.

Veronika Decides to Die

A psychological movie that talk about all kinds of things. Really interesting adapted from Paulo Coelho´s book and Sarah Michelle Gellar was excellent. Really good!

The Hurricane
½

It was good. I just don't give 5 full stars because i think it didn't show too many scenes about his boxing career not even the scenes that were supposed to take place in court. Denzel Washington did a great job in this movie.

Ip Man 2: Legend of the Grandmaster

Really good. Not as good as the first one, but it was still a pretty good sequel.

Ip Man
Ip Man(2010)
½

This movie was surprisingly good. It had some humor, a lot of action, drama, and a really good story.

The Losers
The Losers(2010)

It was entertaining. Not that great though. Some of the action scenes overload special effects. Zoe Saldana can do better than this.

Rosewood
Rosewood(1997)

Really good. I did not know it was based on a true story. It combines the historical power of a great documentary with the heart-pounding excitement of a old-time two-fisted western.

Solo Con Tu Pareja
½

Not as funny or entertaining as I thought it was going to be. Visually, its wonderful at some points, I will give it that, but the plot is very weak.

The Lincoln Lawyer
½

Found the movie quite enjoyable. This was an excellent courtroom drama and thriller. Very similar to the popular thrillers from the 90's. Matthew McConaughey gives us an amazing performance.

Airplane 2 - The Sequel

A lot like the first one. Some of the same jokes, but still funny.

Airplane!
Airplane!(1980)

Funny movie. A typical Leslie Nielsen's movie. A lot of random stuff, but makes it kind of funny.

The Ten
The Ten(2007)
½

Funny! Take it for what it is, a raunchy, quirky comedy, nothing more, nothing less. Just didn't like much the story in cartoons. Most of the cast did an excellent job.

Elektra Luxx
Elektra Luxx(2011)

Funny! Really good sequence for Women in Trouble.

Women in Trouble

Although it was a very girly movie, I kind of liked it. Many scenes were funny and all the girls on the movie were gorgeous. Kind of interesting.

The Amateurs (The Moguls) (Dirty Movie)

Much more touching and much less sexy than expected but certainly worth watching anyway! It's not a movie about the porno business, but about friendship, love, and family.

Black Book
Black Book(2007)

Brilliant! This is an excellent movie, very well acted by all characters. Clarice van Houten is fantastic in this movie. I highly recommend it. Suspenseful every minute with beautiful cinematography.

La Scorta
La Scorta(1994)
½

The story was good, but the movie is not very entertaining.

The Expendables
½

Expendable movie! The action scenes were ok though.

Red Dragon
Red Dragon(2002)

Yay! He is back! Another movie with Hannibal Lecter and it was just amazing. Just not as good as The Silence of the Lambs, but a pretty good "prequence." Anthony Hopkins and Edward Norton produced some great acting abilities.

Hannibal Rising

Was there any worst way to tell the story of such a remarkable character? Shitty plot, and the acting was even worst. Hollywood ruined one of my favorite movie characters. Do not watch this!

Hannibal
Hannibal(2001)
½

It's a good movie, but "The Silence of the Lambs" is much better. Anthony Hopkins did a perfect job. However I didn't like the fact that they changed the actress that plays Clarice, even though Julianne Moore was deadly gorgeous in the movie. Ray Liotta deserved to die in this movie. hehehe. He was extremely annoying.

The Silence of the Lambs

Simply the best thriller ever. Jodie Foster an Anthony Hopkins were perfect together. Very bizarre story, but good. One of my favorite movies ever. I loved how Hopkins' character tries to analyze the dectetive while actually she was the one to be asking all the questions. A real "must-see!"

Manhunter
Manhunter(1986)
½

It was ok. Not as good as the other movies with Hannibal Lecter, but it was still pretty decent.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry
½

Funny jokes on homosexuals. That's it!

The Help
The Help(2011)

One of the best I've seen in a long time! Viola Davis did an amazing job. It had a little comedic relief by Cicely Tyson through out to keep it from being too serious but definitely made the point of how bad it was for the maids in that time.

Max Manus: Man of War
½

Amazing! A movie that captures accurate history in a really interesting and captivating way.

The Believer
The Believer(2002)

Ryan Gosling is utterly convincing as the anti-hero. I thought this film didnt quite live up to its potential. Parts of the plot were weak, like the seemingly random sex scene, Carla's sudden fascination with Judaism, and Danny's sudden changes in mindset. In other words, it could be better.

The Conspirator

This emotionally restrained telling of the Mary Surratt trial portrays the abuses of government and judiciary in times of volatile public emotion. Brilliantly directed with a few inaccurate facts but that was all but forgotten by the great acting done by all involved. The cinematography was also beautiful.

Vidas Secas (Barren Lives)

Weak! The book is so much better. This movie was insanely boring. Acting was also terrible by most part of the cast.

For the Bible Tells Me So

Interesting point of view on Church and homosexuality. This documentary won't change people's minds though. It is so informative and doesn't bash either side but instead just sheds light on this controversial subject.

The Kill Point

One of the best miniseries ever made. Much better than I thought it would be. The drama, the suspence, the storyline, its just well done. John Leguizamo skills in the movie is impeccable. You get glued in. Girls are hot and the story line grows though a bit over the top. This was a mixture of action, friendship, and understanding that worked well for a short series.

Anger Management
½

Extremely irritating movie.

Stranded: I Have Come from a Plane That Crashed on the Mountains

Excellent! One of the best documentaries I've seen. This is a moving documentary about the power of survival but also about the strength that comes from people who learn to live outside the norms of civilization. The story is told by the survivors themselves. It was heartwrenching to watch and it was told so eloquently that its impossible not to feel at least to a degree what these survivors went through. Amazing how they were able to survive 72 days in the cold Andes with almost no food or medicine.

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger
½

One of the few movies from Woody Allen which really amused me. The whole cast did an excellent job. And what a cast, uh? Antonio Banderas, Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Brolin, Gemma Jones, Ewen Bremner, ... I think that only Freida Pinto did not do such a great job on her role. Surprisingly, this movie turned out better than expected. Kinda funny and yet at times, serious.

Inception
Inception(2010)

Inception is a fantastical tale of modern day dream worlds. The special effects were great. Something in the middle of the movie could have been better developed. Joseph Gordon Levitt and Ellen Page were great together. Leo DiCaprio is starting to be the same kind of character in every single movie he makes. This movie can be a little bit hard to follow.

Shinobi
Shinobi(2006)
½

It could have offered a better ending.

Visioneers
Visioneers(2008)

What the hell was that? Not funny at all. The plot was by most part stupid. Some of the actors had a terrible performance. This was annoying and very slow paced.

Network
Network(1976)

It started well, but something got lost after the first hour of movie. Too much on the Dunaway love story that didnt do much or go far, just a lot of wasted dialogue.

Secuestro Express
½

Amazing! The plot is about a kidnapping, however, the movie is really about the growing chasm between the haves and the have-nots in South America. Well worth watching with the director's commentary since it provides good insights into the disparity in wealth in Venezuelan society and its effect on the general population. The acting is uniformly excellent with a particularly good performance by Mia Maestro as the girlfriend of the abducted couple.

American Outlaws

It was ok. Collin Farrell needs some acting classes. If you're looking for something a bit mindless, which we all have to admit is fun every now and then, I'd pick this flick. It's enjoyable for it is.

Rosenstrasse
Rosenstrasse(2004)

A great movie about the Holocaust. I was really impress with Maria Schraders and Katja Riemmans acting. The women asking for their husbands in Rosenstrasse is a reminder of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo. Great story.

Yank Tanks
Yank Tanks(2002)
½

Interesting! Not just about old cars, more about the people and especially the mechanics who love and work on these cars. See how the embargo has effected the people of Cuba and how inventive they have become in keeping these old cars on the road.

From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter

Awful. Took too long for the vampire aspect of the movie to take place. Don't waste your time.

From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money

It's just not interesting. Acting was awful. It seems like they titled it as a sequel only to sell it. It is misleading and stupid.

From Dusk Till Dawn
½

Typical Robert Rodriguez movie. Besides Sin City and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, I guess, all his movies have been so trashy. Always there is a lot of blood, the story is weak, awful acting from all the actors. George Clooney is the only one who isn't that bad in the movie. What was that gun in the guy crotch and how many characters did Cheech Marin played? Nice to see a young Salma Hayek.

Bullets over Hollywood
½

Good documentary. Telling the story of some of the most important mobster that Hollywood ever produced.

Átame! (Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!)
½

I'm giving up on Almodóvar. This movie was actually an "ok"thriller, but the last 20 mins were so bad. The end was awful.

Witness
Witness(1985)

It's very slow in the beginning. Witness, upon reflection, plays out more as a philosophical think piece on contrasting ideologies than it does a suspense thriller.

The Pride of the Yankees
½

A great movie. Gary Cooper is superb as Lou Gehrig, and is matched only by Teresa Wright's portrayal of his loving spouse.

I Love You Phillip Morris
½

It could be funnier. The fact that was based on a real story made the movie interesting. Other than that, is just a comedy filled with a lot of gay sex.

Rio
Rio(2011)
½

Really good. I wasn't expecting much than a gentle comedy for kids and the movie certainly is that, but it is also refreshingly entertaining for adults as well. Very colorful and the images from Rio de Janeiro and the Brazilian people in this movie are very real. The animation was stunning, the songs were beautiful, and the characters were created and voiced perfectly.

Water for Elephants
½

It was ok. Really boring in some parts. There is a lot of animal torture.

Number Seventeen (Number 17)
½

Amazingly fast and loud action suspense. One of Hitchcock's best movie. This movie was fun to watch in spite of the murky plot.

Dorian Gray
Dorian Gray(2009)
½

Really good. The acting was great. The costuming for a period film like this was excellent. The score was unexpected and gave such a great mood to the piece.

A Prophet (Un prophete)

It had everything to be an awesome mobster movie. I don´t know to explain what exactly happened, but i thought it was pretty boring during some scenes.

Indecent Proposal
½

I was expecting something better. Demi Moore looks good in this movie and that's pretty much it. The story was ok, but poorly developed.

Horrible Bosses
½

Very funny! It doesn´t have a story, but there is no problem. The script proves to be an excellent framework for jokes and when considered from a structural standpoint is actually superb, wasting absolutely no set-ups and allowing even the most mundane throwaway gags to mean something important later on. Every character had their moment and was funny in their own way.

Fair Game
Fair Game(2010)

Excellent! Naomi Watts and Sean Penn do an excellent job with their roles, and Director Doug Liman keeps things taut and interesting. A good story, well told, with solid performances.

Three Colors: Red (Trois couleurs: Rouge)
½

This one is definitely my favorite from the trilogy. The themes of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity are brought to a satisfying conclusion in RED, but not crystallized until the last few moments which erupt in a thrilling ride. The way Kieslowski captures the human heart is simply stunning and rare indeed. A good exploration of the issue of privacy and the image that people present to the outside world vs. how they act when they think no one is watching.

Three Colors: White (Trois Couleurs: Blanc)

The way which the husband gets his vengeance in the end was awesome. The beginning it felt like a comedy/drama. It was nice to see the love that the main actor felt for Julie Delpy´s character. The movie also takes us inside dreary post-communist Poland, which has become a place of capitalist enterprise and corruption.

Three Colors: Blue (Trois Couleurs: Bleu)
½

Not a big fan of this movie from the colors trilogy. Very slow & boring. Imagine watching this movie which has very little dialogue with a woman telling you what you should be seeing and feeling through the entire story.

Dogville
Dogville(2003)
½

The ending was definitely the best part. The beginning is too slow. Is very interesting the way which the story is shown.

Guantanamera
Guantanamera(1997)
½

I really enjoyed the characters and see the scenery but I just did not believe the love story.

Amen
Amen(2003)
½

Interesting movie about the Vatican´s role during WWII. The opening scene was very powerful. It's not a run of the mill anti-Nazi film. It's about a real person, Gerstein, who was a high ranking Nazi, but who did not want to participate in the exterminations. This movie is not well made, although it must have involved a lot of expense and effort. The acting was poor.

Duplex
Duplex(2003)
½

Not that bad. Ben Stiller ALWAYS plays the same role. Everything bad happens to him. It could be funnier though.

Who's That Knocking at My Door?

Definitely one of the worst movies of Martin Scorsese. The main topic of the movie is not even that explicit. The basic theme is covered in the descriptive paragraph and could have been good for a 15 minute short. It was boring.

Frost/Nixon
Frost/Nixon(2008)

Terrific political drama helmed by the accomplished Ron Howard pits a partying British talk show host against a formidable, intellectual, disgraced former president. This movie is incredible. Powerhouse performances from Langella and Sheen. The final interview segment until the end is where this film really kicks in.

The Bridges of Madison County

First of all, the cinematography is amazing showing the Iowa countryside in what is supposed to be the mid-60's. Great performances by Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep, but that is to be expected. The ending is overdone. The dialogues were a little cliche.

Napoli, Napoli, Napoli

Interesting documentary. It brings a nice inside view of the criminal life in the city of Naples and how the authorities don´t do anything to fix this problem.

Fast Five
Fast Five(2011)

I think is the best one so far. The action scenes were fantastic. The cast did a great job. Jordana Brewster´s character became more important to the story. I just don´t understand the guys who spoke Spanish in Brazil.

Fast & Furious
½

They tried to bring the magic from the first one back. They hired the same actors, but not a good sequence. Michelle Rodriguez participation was useless. Also the participation of Sung Kang was unnecessary.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

What the F**k happened to the triology? Awful story, awful acting,
just the scenes with the cars were ok. Nothing special. Bow Wow get back to hip hop. You will not be a good actor. The cast was a bunch of nobodies. Fans of Fast & Furious should forget this one.

2 Fast 2 Furious

It was good too. A lot of nice cars. Tyrese was a funny substitute to Vin Diesel. Eva Mendes was ok. Nice shots in Miami.

The Fast and the Furious

Good action movie. I liked a lot the first one. Good action scenes and both actors Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were great together. Michele Rodriguez isn't bad in this one either. Too early to be considered a classic?

The Year My Parents Went on Vacation (O Ano em Que Meus Pais Saíram de Férias)
½

This movie was great. The story was good and it's a beautiful picture of Brazil in the 70's. Brazil was having serious political problems and the kid was left in a jewish neighborhood, where he used to play soccer while he was waiting for his family. Very good movie. Nice Story.

The Day After Tomorrow

Good. The special effects were good and the suspense keeps you entertained for most part. However the end was disappointing.

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo(2003)

Funny and very well produced. Exellent job. Good production.

I'm Not There
½

It could be so much better. It tries to be abstract and alternative. I was expecting a biography like "Ray"or "Walk the line." This movie is only for true fans of Bob Dylan. However the songs in the movie are good (some Bob Dylan classics are missing) and Cate Blanchett was almost perfect in this movie. She was the best convincing Bob Dylan of all the actors.

Fargo
Fargo(1996)

One of my favorite movies. Excellent plot. I think it is the best thing ever done by the Coen Brothers. Frances McDormand, William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi are simply incredible. Even the accents sound great. This movie is so much like real life in the situations with a remarkable twist at the end that i just love it. Very strong violence like a lot of the Coen brother's other films.

Titanic
Titanic(1997)

What a fantastic epic of a movie. Great fiction love story between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Nice special effects and the music was good. Great storyline and an amazing performance by the actors. This is an excellent movie for the enire family full of adventure, suspense, romance, and of course beautiful theme song.

Recount
Recount(2008)
½

Really good. Very well done docu-drama of the 2000 election. Recount is a well-written, proficient examination of the controversy surrounding the 2000 Presidential election, specifically the controversy that erupted in Florida. The acting is solid from Kevin Spacey, Tom Wilkinson, and Laura Dern, who is fantastic as the misguided Katherine Harris.

The Life of David Gale

In my opinion Kevin Spacey is one of the best actors ever. The story is awesome. It's a big criticism about death penalty in the U.S. The surprising end was the best part of the movie. Kate Winslet and Laura Linney made a good job too.

No Strings Attached
½

What else can you expect from a movie with Ashton Kutcher? Not good. Natalie Portman probably just made this movie for the money. Some dialogues try to be funny, but the acting was awful. It seemed like I was watching some satire movie.

Masters of the Universe
½

One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. A good movie for kids from the 80's. The special effects are awful, but ok for that time. This is a movie that needs to be remade, and I can't wait.

The 40 Year Old Virgin

I dont think this movie is funny. Paul Rudd character was funny, but that's it. The plot was awful and Steve Carell was not funny at all.

Scream 4
Scream 4(2011)

I liked it, but it felt unnecessary. I could tell Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette werent invested in their performances as much as they were in the first three films. Some scenes were ridiculously funny.

Scream 3
Scream 3(2000)

Awful sequence. The first Scream instantly became a classic, the second took all that was good in the first and improved upon, creating one of the best horror films in history, then the third lost the writer that made it work. Wes Craven should had stopped in the second movie.

Scream 2
Scream 2(1997)

The sequence was not that good, but still had some suspense. Again, everyone is a suspect. This movie was surprising, scary and very gory.

Scream
Scream(1996)

The first movie was really good. The suspense to find out who is the killer stays until the end and I like how it mentions a lot of classic things that always happen in a horror movie. A completely original story that starts off so unexpectedly that there is no predictability after that. A classic, gory, fun semi-homage to slasher movies, Wes Craven makes history again.

The Town
The Town(2010)
½

Great movie, nice story, good acting. The end was a little bit disappointing, but still a great movie. Ben Affleck was ok as an actor, but great director. Renner is excellent in it and deserved his nomination. A lot of things were not well explained in the movie. Like the tattoo on the neck or what happened to those guys who got their asses kicked by Affleck and Renner.

Fight Club
Fight Club(1999)

This movie was awesome! Helena Bonham Carter is perfect. Edward Norton also had a great performance, but just in the end, when he shoots his own head and few seconds later he was talking like nothing happened, was too much for me. If your into Quentin Terintino style, independent, awkward movies, this is the flick I would recomend.

Bruna Surfistinha (Little Surfer Girl)

Surprisingly good! Bruna (Raquel Pacheco) gained fame being a prostitute, and going to TV shows after some time. Whether you think she is right or wrong, this is not the point of the movie. The movie focus on her life after leaving home. The movie is a slap on the face of those who underestimated it just by its topic. Deborah Secco, famous for her promiscuous roles on Brazilian soap operas, fits perfectly the movie. Credits should be given to the supporting actress, Drica Moraes, who does an amazing job. The story was pretty good, although I personally think that the movie focus too much on the life of many prostitutes making good money and getting addicted to drugs, and lacks to provide more information about the personal life of Raquel Pacheco.

The Mechanic
The Mechanic(2011)
½

First of all, if you are expecting to see some action movie with cars, you might be disappointed. Although the name is "The Mechanic", it has absolutely nothing to do with cars. Jason Statham plays his usual role. All the others are ok. There is a lot of good action in this movie. The story is far from compelling, and you are basically going to know the ending 15 minutes into the movie. Still, was good.

The Prestige
The Prestige(2006)
½

Some of Hollywood favorites and not such a good story.

No Country for Old Men

Excellent! Javier Bardem is a badass motherfucker in this movie. He totally deserved the Oscar for his role. Kelly Macdonald was also amazing. And what the Coen brothers have achieved is an atmosphere that is completely unique; they have put us in a world that is completely their own. We have no way of predicting what will happen next or how the movie will end because we have never set foot in a world quite like this one. The suspense builds throughout the entire movie and continues as the ending credits roll; there is no resolution. Also it is important to mention that the movie is very faithful to the book.

Outside the Law (Hors-la-loi)

The plot and the action scenes were really good. The movie somehow was still boring though.

Gladiator
Gladiator(2000)

Boring movie. The action scenes were good though. I was expecting so much more though.

The Adjustment Bureau
½

Interesting, but it could be better. I honestly don´t know how to explain what went wrong here.

Limitless
Limitless(2011)

Surprisingly good! Brasley Cooper did an excellent job. Lots of intrigue in this plausible thriller about what might happen if we could use 100% of our brains with a little help from a wonder drug.

Valentin
Valentin(2004)

After reading so many 5 star reviews I expected to see a great film. Sadly, it was not to be. Not only was it boring but the dialogue and actions were too sophisticated to be coming from an 8 year old boy. This movie could have been 15 minutes long and you could have gotten the point, you didn't have to spend the whole 83 minutes watching a bunch of nothing. A big disappointment!

The Skin Game
½

Really good. This is good early Hitchcock, and the story is tragic and rivetingly told, a tale of genteel old Britain struggling in the face of modernization, but at the cost of its honor and dignity. Entertaining!

50 First Dates
½

Funny. It's nice how Adam Sandler has to make Drew Barrymore fall in love with him every single day. Rob Schneider is funny in a weird way. Drew Barrymore did a good job. Adam Sandler is the same thing as usual. The plot was original.

Home Alone 4
Home Alone 4(2002)

What the hell happened? The Home Alone series went from a christmas classic to one of those really dumb kids' movies that you see on tv. All I can say is the bad guys were the worst actors possibly that I have ever seen.

Home Alone 3
Home Alone 3(1997)

I didn't like it. It tries to be a copy of the original one with Macaulay Culkin, but not funny and the story was lame. Macaulay Culkin definitely brought out a better main character. These films went from family films to dull kids comedy.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
½

Good movie! Although not as good as the original it is still worth seeing. Kevin is up to his old tricks and so are the bad guys. The name shouldn't be "Home Alone." The kid goes all the way to NY.

Good and funny! It is absolutely hilarious, entertaining and all year round, not only Christmas, movie! Macaulay Culkin is going to be always associated to this movie. Very entertaining!

i was expecting just another of those dumb movies with dogs. Luckily that was not the case. This is not only a film about raising a dog, it is a film about starting a family, letting go of solid plans and adjusting to life on a day to day basis. It is also about finding happiness with where you are at, even though it may not be where you would thought you would be.

I Hate Valentine's Day
½

Some few scenes were sort of funny. The story is dumb and too predictable.

Barry Munday
Barry Munday(2010)

Funny! Judy Greer and Wilson quite literally make it work with their roles, while familiar faces add to its quality. The concept may apply, but the movie itself is really a drama with some funny moments. It really does keep you interested to see how everything will play out, and whether the kid is even really his.

Midnight in Paris

Really good and funny. I did not know much what to expect from this movie and it was surprisingly interesting. While I'm not a big Woody Allen fan I am seeing a trend in which of his movies I like. The ones that he isn't in are actually his best movies. The script is based on the joy of nostalgia, a sentimental yearning for a previous time period. It explores the concept from the outlook of someone who like most of us, tends to romanticize the past. I never thought I would say this, but Owen Wilson can be a good actor and the lovely Marion Cotillard did also an excellent job. Besides the fact that Rachel McAdams' character was an annoying bitch, she was also not convincing.

Love Actually

Some scenes were funny. Most of the cast did an excellent job. I´m not quite sure the relevance of Laura Linney´s and Rodrigo Santoro´s characters. The movie does not bring a good image to American girls and the worst thing was to see Hugh Grant as the British prime minister.

The Hangover Part II

I was definitely expecting something funnier. Especially because the first movie was one of the best comedies made recently. The story tries to be a lot like the first movie and it wasn't original. Zach Galifianakis wasn't so funny. Actually some scenes his acting was ridiculous. Yes, you can have some laughs with this movie, but definitely not good as the first one. The pictures in the end were great again.

The Hangover
The Hangover(2009)

I was expeting something a little bit funnier, but still was the best comedy from 2009. Zach Galifanakis's character was hilarious. Especially the pictures when it starts to show the credits. Even though there was no story, the plot was original. The dialogues were great.

Be Kind Rewind

It was ok. Not so funny as I expected, but the remakes were interesting. The idea of a "Sweded" film was pretty good and the fact all the community pulled together to save an old building now an outdated video store was touching.

The Tourist
The Tourist(2010)

The story wasn´t bad, but something was missing there. Maybe some chemistry between Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Maybe a better acting coming from the main characters. It´s ok. Nothing special.

Jerry Maguire

Amazing! This could be considered a chick flick but it has more than enough content for men to love it as well. Best movie with Tom Cruise since Rain Man. Yes it's hollywood, but the characters are human and the story is quite powerful.

The Terminal
The Terminal(2004)

This movie is a version of "Cast Away" inside an airport. Tom Hanks and Stanley Tucci are fantastic in this movie, and I just loved the musical score. Many scenes had me laughing, and even though there are some slower parts, I wouldn't say that I was bored. Really entertaining movie.

Cast Away
Cast Away(2000)

This movie was awesome. This movie can be considered a big Fedex advertisement. Tom Hanks was just amazing as usual. It is amazing to see the transformation that his body goes through for this movie. The scenes with Wilson were great. Definitely a "must-see."

The sequel was just ok. The story was lame. Some action scenes were pretty good. Definitely good as the first one.

48 HRS
48 HRS(1982)
½

This is definitely Eddie Murphy at his rawest and finest performance. Nick Nolte's character was little bit too racist in some scenes. The jokes are very funny and tight. The chemistry Between Eddie and Nick is perfect.

Cost of a Soul

Pretty good for an independent movie. The acting was good from most part of the cast. The ending was brilliant.

Requiem for a Dream

One of the best movies about drugs. Sara goldfarb is an awesome actress. I didn't know Jennifer Connelly before this movie, but i thought she was amazing. Jared Leto had an excellent performance too. Ellen Burstyn was also great. The story was amazing. The ending was outstanding. A "must - watching" movie.

Caligula
Caligula(1979)

Too pornographic! There are some parts that the director was more interested in the sex than the actual story from Caligola. Good story though. The fisting and the gay-blowjob scenes were not easy to watch. Malcom McDowell does a really good job. Maybe this is the best movie from Tinto Brass

The Rage: Carrie 2
½

Not good because there is almost nothing to do with the original story. Fans of the original Carrie will get disappointed with this movie.

Carrie
Carrie(2002)

It tries to be so good as the first version from Brian De Palma, but it's not. It's not a bad movie, but not as good as the original one. The cast does an ok job.

Carrie
Carrie(1976)

This is a classic. Carrie was a great thriller/horror/drama movie. Brian De Palma made a good job with Stephen King's story. However I still prefer the book, but the movie was really good. Sissy Spacek was great.

The Ring
The Ring(1927)
½

Interesting story but it could be developed in a better way. Since it is a silent movie, the music is responsible to keep the suspense.

Gold Raiders
Gold Raiders(1951)

A little bit too short. It could be funnier, but it is still a good movie. The three stooges are certainly the best of the movie.

Only Human (Seres queridos)
½

Some scenes were funny. The story was weak, but ok. It reminds me those comedies with Ben Stiller.

U.S. Marshals

An action classic. Great cast! Tommy Lee Jones and Wesley Snipes were surrounded by other great actors! Some of the plot twists are predictable, but the acting makes up for it.

Jamaica Inn
Jamaica Inn(1939)

One of my favorites from Hitchcock. I really enjoyed this movie, was fantastic and extremely interesting. The characters were spot-on and gave a much more textured performance than most canned "scallywag" performances. Charles Laughton's gloriously and purposely hammy performance, which alone is absolutely worth the time, and second, for Maureen O'Hara's first screen appearance, playing, of course, a fiery Irish redhead.

The Boys from Brazil

Interesting concept, but it takes forever to come into focus. Some of the foreign accents were just awful. It is not the classic masterpiece that somehow you were lead to think it'd be. The story is long drawn and boring for the most part.

Vincere
Vincere(2010)

Really good! Giovanna Mezzogiorno was amazing. The performances are very powerful in general. The dark cinematography really lends itself to this dark period of human history. The film is very dramatic almost behaving like an opera with its dark, brooding music, larger then life headlines thrown across the screen and general attitude of sweet suffering. Themes of the insanity of war and maniacal pursuit of power come through loud and clear, even with minimal knowledge of Mussolinis life. More detailed knowledge, though, does help make sense of the last half, which moves quickly through history.

Easy Virtue

Hadnt seen any of Hitchcocks silent films until this one. Its difficult for me to get into silent films but I still found it to be an intriguing movie. It moves really slow. Very early Hitchcock.

Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer

I didn't think it was that great. Weak documentary.

Good Bye, Lenin!

Beautiful story about how this boy made everything to protect his mom of the tragic truth about the crisis of Communism in Germany. "Good Bye, Lenin" is a comic parable about coming to terms with the tumultuous and rapid socio-political change following the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is a must-see film for anyone interested in the history of communism's rapid fall in Europe and the reunification of Germany. The acting by Katrin Sass was astonishing. Excellent. A "must-watch" movie. I just would not say that it is a comedy like it is classified.

Kramer vs. Kramer

Beautiful story. The movie is anchored by the brilliant performance of Dustin Hoffman-perhaps the best of his career besides "Rain Man." This movie is a pop culture landmark, a powerful drama, and a must-see, essential classic.

The Truman Show

Excellent story. I think the concept was brilliant! Not so much a comedy as a bizarre warning of things to come as we have now become a society fixated on the lives of others while ignoring our own. When Jim Carrey does serious movies he proves that he can be a great actor. The Truman Show has become more relevant, and far more potent and personal.

Blackmail
Blackmail(1929)

What I love about Hitchcock is the way he makes us think about crime, guilt, and the act of murder. Not bad for an early sound movie, not great for Hitchcock. There are a number of clever film making touches, but the biggest problem is you have to get one third thru the film to get to the precipitating event.

The Long Good Friday
½

For big fan of mobster movies, this is not very satisfying. The story is thin, the acting is bad, the music is horrible and its not shot very well.

La Historia Oficial (The Official Story)
½

Good movie. Norma Aleandro is monumental in this shattering political drama. Because it is so superbly written and acted, its moral message is powerfully delivered. It condemns the military dictatorship as well as its enablers.

Soundtrack For A Revolution

Amazingly sad/beautiful movie. Exceptionally well done. It was really good the way which it portrays the story about the civil rights movement. The musicians chosen to perform the songs were very well selected. It was impressive to see/hear the emotions from all the musicians.

RoboCop 3
RoboCop 3(1993)
½

Entertaining! Its not as good as the original, but it is much better than 2. I even liked the jet backpack. I thought it was cool to see Robocop fly like Superman and shoot bullets and missils at the bad guys and tanks. It's like an old version of Iron Man. Some parts were funny.

Robocop 2
Robocop 2(1990)

Bad sequence. The child who acts like an typical Italian mobster was all ridiculous. The story wasn't so good. Still some action scenes looked nice.

RoboCop
RoboCop(1987)

A classic! This reminds me my childhood. This film is loud, bloody, violent, and so forth...but it is also the sad story of a man who has lost control of his life, who has lost himself, and who must struggle in some way to regain all that he has lost, impossible as that may seem. Nice story and remarkable theme.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

It sucked. The cast was not very good, and the plot is just not my cup of tea.

The Jackal
The Jackal(1997)
½

Not as goo as the original one, but it was still amazing. Bruce Willis was amazing. Tracking down a lone assassin was fun to watch. Actors held their own. Look for an early Jack Black, sort of the same as now Jack Black! Diane Venora was an icy cold Russian!

The Day of the Jackal

Amazing! I noticed that the violence is off-screen, which in today's in-your-face world is refreshing. Edward Fox is amazing in the main role. I never read the book, but people say is one of the best adaptations from a book you will ever see. Definitely a "must-see."

Easy A
Easy A(2010)

It tries to copy some teen movies from the 80's, but it was decent. Some funny scenes, but too predictable.

The Kid Stays in the Picture
½

I dont know what to say. It was kind fo interesting, but the guy did not seem that great. The narration tried to make it more personal, but still wasn't good enough for the movie.

The Rosa Parks Story

Angela Bassett is one of the best actresses ever. Rosa Parks was a consultant in this movie and her story is a wonderful one. The movie was not 100% faithful to the story but it was still a really good one.

About a Boy
About a Boy(2002)

About a Boy is very entertaining and surprisingly good. Grant is his usual self. The movie is not that funny.

From Paris with Love
½

This movie has a weak storyline which serves only to support perpetual violence, but it was entertaining. The action and comedy were a perfect complement to each other.

I'm Not Scared (Io non ho paura)

Surprisingly good. Great direction. The cinematography is breathtaking and all the shots are lovingly framed. This film is quite beautiful despite the dark subject matter. The story is dark and it unfolds quietly until it reaches a crescendo at its end. The child actors do an outstanding job. At the beginning it looks very slow and you don't know what is this movie about but later it turns interesting and catch your attention.

Homeboy
Homeboy(1988)
½

This movie is awful in just about everyway. The story, movie and direction are awful. Rourke's performance for the first half of the movie is awful (he drops the ridiculous accent towards the end of the movie). Walken is solid as always but has little to do or work with. Overall, just not a good idea.

Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3(2010)
½

A really good movie. Better than the second one. This is a very fitting conclusion to a wonderful story and caps off what is probably the most consistently great film series of all time. The story for this one has its scary moments, but anyone thinking it is too scary must remember that they had a maniac who tortured toys in the first film. The voices were great.

Toy Story 2
Toy Story 2(1999)

Good sequence. This one was less dark/scary than the first one, and definitely enjoyable. Disney-Pixar does an amazing job. I would definitely recommend it.

Toy Story
Toy Story(1995)
½

Amazing! Toy Story is an exceptional stand out children's classic. Crisp animation, fun and bright. Spectacular voice cast, tender heartwarming story, but also loaded with adventure and comedy. The graphics, even for todays standards, are still top notch. Hanks and Allen lend their voices perfectly and the story soars smoothly.

Pan's Labyrinth
½

Surprisingly good. A dark fairy tale for adults! This is a very well made movie that combines the innocent imagination of a child, with the horrors of the darkest parts of humanity. In my opinion, this film is what put Guillermo del Toro on the map as a great film-artist. Del Toro has the ability to make fantasy feel real. Good movie.

The King's Speech

Disappointing! This movie is over hyped for what reason I don't know! The movie is very well directed. I tried to pay attention, but it was so boring. Dull and too predictable. Boring, stuffy, and snobby film about a man with a speech impediment who seeks help from a somewhat conventional therapist, though the films marketers imply otherwise.

Countdown to Zero

It was ok. Interesting, but not an exciting documentary. I was interested in the effects of nuclear warfare and the dangers of obtaining and sitting on these weapons, but this documentary is just a fear package delivered to your television.

The Italian Job

I was expecting so much more about this movie. The story is ok. The cast was also just ok. The action scenes were good, but also nothing special. In this remake, the car scene was pretty good too.

The Italian Job
½

It was pretty good, but to be honest, I was expecting something better, because everybody that i know told me that this is a "must-see." I liked the ending a lot and Michael Caine was pretty good. The scene with the cars was amazing.

The Accused
The Accused(1988)

Jodie Foster at her best. Really good movie. A good script, but in the end everything got solved too easily in a simple way. The story was good though.

400 Contra 1 - Uma História do Crime Organizado
½

Really good movie. It tries to be a little bit similar to City of God. I personally thought that the dialogues were weak for the movie. The story was good and the way how the story was shown was amazing with all the flashbacks. Good job from most part of the cast.

My Uncle Killed a Guy (Meu Tio Matou um Cara)
½

It was ok, but it could be so much better. Deborah Secco did the only role that she can play in her whole carrer. Darlan Cunha was ok. The story was good.

Wedding Crashers

Very funny. Vince Vaughn did a good job in this one. The story is pretty original and all actors were great. One of the best comedies from the last years.

Death Race 2
Death Race 2(2010)

Death Race
Death Race(2008)

Thinking XXX
Thinking XXX(2004)

Interesting. As a documentary about a series of photo shoots, this is not a terribly interesting film. However, the producers managed to get some writers and social commentators, to give interviews on their thoughts about sex and porn in contemporary culture.

Take Me Home Tonight

It had been a long time that i didn't see such a bad movie. It wasn't funny at all. The acting was mediocre. The plot was awful. Waste of time!

The Other Guys
½

It was ok if compared to other Will Ferrell's movies. Some scenes were actually funny, but the plot is dumb. Samuel L Jackson and The Rock were the funniest people in the movie even though they didnt have many lines.

Drive Angry
Drive Angry(2011)

You get exactly what you're expecting. Nicolas Cage has been doing pretty bad movies lately. This one tries to be like the Grindhouse movies, but it turns pretty bad. It has some funny scenes.

Lumumba
Lumumba(2001)

Interesting. This was a great movie and it reveals the big picture and educates people on the issues that led to the problems that many African countries have been facing all this years.

George Wallace

Excellent. I was impressed how this movie did not become more popular. Gary Sinese was excellent, as was Mare Winningham as the gentile southern wife. Angelina Jolie showed promise of what was to come in her career. There is superb acting in this well written and directed intensely interesting biography of George Wallace, governor of Alabama during the Civil Rights Movement. It's a 3 hour movie that picks up pace as it continues, so when it ends you actually feel like you want more. Extraordinary!

True Grit
True Grit(2010)

Really good movie. Coen brothers did an excellent job. Pretty good remake. Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Hailee Steinfeld were great.

True Grit

Hilarious. Zach Galifianakis played exactly the same character from "The Hangover." I'm not a big fan of Robert Downey Jr. but I think he did pretty well in this movie. He and Galifianakis worked well together and made the movie a comedic hit.

The People Speak

Interesting idea but this movie was so boring. It wasn't a good documentary.

Black Swan
Black Swan(2010)
½

Black Swan is a deliciously beautiful descent into darkness. It has a great story and always keeps you tense. It has great performances and no one fails to amaze. This film deserved every award it won.

La Siciliana Ribelle (The Sicilian Girl)

Outstanding! Based on the real story of Rita Atria. The movie offers colorful insight into the endemic corruption and criminality that still plague Sicily. Some fans of the mafia movies might not like, for not showing too much violence, drugs, and sex. The movie focus more on the corruption aspect. I love movies about the mafia, especially ones based in fact, and this is no exception. It was well written, well acted, and well directed.

Broken Embraces

It could have been so much better. It is somewhat hard to get a handle on this film. The story in this film seemed more formulaic and less imaginative than Volver though I appreciate Almodovar's intimate angles, timing, and the acting.

Eccentricities of a Blonde-haired Girl (Singularidades de uma Rapariga Loura)

Huge disappointment. About halfway through this movie I realized that things were going to end very vague. This movie has everything: poor production values, terrible acting, a story with not a hint of a spark or sense.

He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

Nice romance. This is a slow movie, and not for everyone. But it takes a great look at our psyche and does it in a very intelligent manner. Audrey Tautou is perfect in this role.

Saint John of Las Vegas

Surprisingly good. This intelligent buddy comedy really keeps you on your toes. Buscemi's performance is mesmerizing, Romany Malco made me laugh out loud, and Sarah Silverman is adorable!

Miami Blues
Miami Blues(1990)

Story was good. Bad acting in general. Alec Baldwin desperately needs some acting classes. It was still entertaining.

Philadelphia
Philadelphia(1993)

One of the best movies from the 90's. Inspirational story that combats prejudice against homossexuals and people with AIDS. Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington were fantastic in this movie. A "must-see" movie. Brilliant!

Loveless in Los Angeles

I get so mad to think that I actually payed to see this movie. Not funny. Not entertaining.

Sleepless in Seattle

Real American classic. Pretty good romantic movie. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are one of the few perfect couples in movies. "Sleepless in Seattle" is a heartfelt discourse on the duality of destiny, set in a time when "long distance" carried a lot more weight.

Memphis Belle
½

This was neither realistic nor possible with bombing accuracy at the time. Memphis Belle/Hollywood once again gave us a warm, fuzzy fantasy and completley missed the chance to tackle a messy historic issue. The movie would have been twice as good had it honestly adressed this issue.

In Old Chicago
½

Pretty good. Great special effects. Good story, a lil slow here and there, but its not horrible. Entertaining but dated. Doesn't hold up like some other old movies.

Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead

Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead is a great script. Almost too much of a great script. The lines and phrases are catchy and quotable. Andy Gracia is outstanding. Christopher Walken and Steve Buscemi are also great. Classic mobster movie. The dialogue is crackling, a plot line is involving, the characters are compelling, and the overall production is top flight.

The Mysteries of Pittsburgh

Can be a little entertaining. It was a little funny, but it moved very slow.

Phoenix
Phoenix(1998)
½

Superb acting of Ray Liotta. Good plot, action, and ending.

The Spirit of St. Louis

Dallas 362
Dallas 362(2005)

Awful. What a waste of time!

Dancing to New Orleans

Gospel, blues, funk, country, cajun, zydeco, French street music, and somethings that are unique to Louisiana. For those not familiar with music history, it is a great introduction to many types of music, and how much of our modern music grew from Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta. For those who know some of this history, this documentary provides a richness through the words of some wonderful performers. There is a touch of sadness. This was filmed pre-Katrina.

New Jersey Drive
½

Surprisingly good. This is in the vein of movies from the 90's like New Jack City and Ricochet. It was a low budget film but it looks great.

Lo Squartatore di New York (The New York Ripper)
½

It was good, but it seems like something was lost in translation there. Could easily be dismissed because of its brutal gore and sleazy 80s B-movie trappings, but deftly crafted by director Lucio Fulci, this is a superior giallo. This is a great slasher film. Not for everybody. Full of bizarre setpieces, that signature Fulci visual style, and plot turns that no rational human being could see coming, this is really a classic of its genre.

The Boston Strangler

Excellent! It's refreshing to see a crime drama, especially one about serial killers, driven by plot and not shock or gore. Tony Curtis gives is best performance since 'Some Like It Hot'. Well acted overall. A true classic. Worth watching.

Kansas City
Kansas City(1996)
½

I was really disappointed about this movie. Not a terribly exciting movie, which has a tendency to be sluggish. All the actors turn in first rate performances, but the story tends to lag and really go nowhere about political corruption and kidnapping.

Detroit Rock City

A movie for Kiss fans. Even if you're not a Kiss fan, it might be pretty entertaining. Funny in some parts as well.

Nashville
Nashville(1975)

I was expecting for something better, but it is still good for country music fans. Just not my cup of tea.

San Francisco

Not very good. One of Clark Gable's and Jeanette MacDonald's poorer performances. The script has weak points as well.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
½

Good political movie. Young naive man brings down the corrupted political system of the US senate. James Stewart is excellent as always.

El Baño del Papa (The Pope's Toilet)

It could be better. Took forever with character development and never ended up really going anywhere.

Cautiva
Cautiva(2006)

This was a stunner of a movie! Interesting in a historical and political sense. I thought the ending music and shot of the stars was a lovely note to end on. A very touching film. The young actress, Barbara Lombardo, who plays the teen, does an excellent job. The director deserves credit for a clearly presented story. Seemingly very realistic portrayal of a tragic part of Argentina's past. Worth seeing.

Innocent Voices (Voces inocentes)

It has a good purpose, but it could be more entertaining.

I Am Cuba (Soy Cuba)

Outstanding! There is just something magical about black and white film, it is sometimes MORE expressive than color. I highly recommend it if youre interested in cinema as an art. 'I Am Cuba' is the ultimate form of political expression in art I think I have ever seen. Nice landscapes! Though very anit-American and pro-Castro to maybe an absurdest point, nevertheless the cinematography in the film is amazing.

Little Fockers

OMG! What Happened to this story? It was just awful and painful to watch. It's true, there are a couple of scenes that can give you a couple of laughs, but dont expect this to be a great comedy.

Meet the Fockers

There are some funny parts but is not a great comedy. Watching Meet the Fockers was a lot like listening to someone tell a long, complex joke, then suddenly forget the punchline.

Meet the Parents
½

It is very hard to get a comedy movie now a days that people will love that is truely funny and entertaining in a non sexual, raunchy, or disgusting way. This movie did just that. Good movie. I think its one of the few movies that you can laugh with Ben Stiller.

Almost Famous

Its a very entertaining fun film to watch. Plot and acting was excellent. Frances McDormand does a great job. What a great performance by Kate Hudson. The story is also great showing the crazy rock years in the 70's and the soundtrack was almost perfect for the movie.

Walk the Line

i loved this movie! Joaquin Phoenix was terrific as Johnny Cash. Great love story with a great country soundtrack. For the acting artistry alone, Walk the Line deserves five stars. The sets, costumes and script are all fine, but without the stellar work of the cast, this would be just another rock star story with a standard rock star story plot, worthy of perhaps three and a half stars. Phoenix and Witherspoon become their characters on the screen. They really sing the songs, play the instruments and seem to live the lives of those they are portraying.

Fidel
Fidel(2001)

This documentary gives the American people a different view from the stories that the Cuban exiles tell. It shows a sympathetic Fidel that is now old, but still struggling in defending his belief is Socialism (it is never mentioned communism) and fighting the unfair US-Cuba embargo.

Middle Men
Middle Men(2010)
½

Extremely entertaining! It's a pity that this movie did not become so popular as it should. I guess, because it deals with pornography and it doesn't fit well the prude censor system from the USA.Despite the plot, which plays like a 90s crime movie, the movies decision to build its characters and show how this situation changes and molds them is its strength. Director George Gallo gets the most out of this talented cast.

Smile Pretty
Smile Pretty(2009)

Terrible! Bad acting, bad plot, bad edition, bad all around.

The Drawn Together Movie: The Movie!

Some parts were funny, but of the most of the scenes were just ridiculous. It would be an "ok" episode of Drawn Together. This movie is so wrong on so many levels! They attempted to push that and in doing so it was entertaining. But this movie is allowed free reign, and as such, isn't as impressive, drawn out, and not even shocking since they have no restrictions holding them back to push against.

The Ring Two
The Ring Two(2005)

Alexander
Alexander(2004)

This movie was so gay. What happened to Oliver Stone in this movie? It was so bad. Not entertaining at all. Most of the cast didn't do a really good job.

From Prada to Nada

It seems like one of those old indie comedies. Does it try to take some little things from "The Devil Wears Prada?" It's more romance than actually a comedy.

Insomnia
Insomnia(2002)

This was not a bad movie. Pacino, Williams and Swank are equally good. This has a great cast and many twists and turns. Very interesting movie.

The Fighter
The Fighter(2010)

This true story about Dicky Ekhart (Christian Bale) and his half brother Micky Ward (A rock solid Mark Whalberg), was really good and very entertaining movie. This is a great film, a must see in my opinion. All the performances were fantastic. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo both won Oscars for their roles, and there is no questioning why. Seeing this crazy family deal with each other is sometimes comical, other times intense, yet always heartwarming.

Taxi Driver
Taxi Driver(1976)

One of the best movies with Robert De Niro. Jodie Foster was also really great in this movie. At first, Taxi Driver just wasn't that appealing for me, due to the fact that I thought it was slow and just parts of it were out of place. But then I thought that the story was really good. I love how Martin Scorsese shows the New York city that nobody wants to see. Great movie!

The Taxi Driver
½

This movie can eb very entertaining, but for some reason I just did not enjoy as much as I should. The plot is hackneyed and the over-acting is embarrassing.

My Best Friend's Wedding

Another boring romantic comedy with Julia Roberts.

Moulin Rouge!

I liked the introduction of pop songs from the last generation, but the story was weak and some of the scenes were too weird.

The F Word
The F Word(2005)

It was a boring movie, but interesting the way it was made. Watching an actor interview real people on the street is about as interesting as watching someone do your taxes.

The Secret in Their Eyes (El Secreto de Sus Ojos)

One of the best movies from 2009. What a well-written story with an ever-twisting plot and captivating movie. The rape and love appears at the same time the passion to resolve the murder and at the same time the passion to love. Excellent.

Food, Inc.
Food, Inc.(2009)

This documentary covers perhaps the most important and most-ignored situation in America today. Food, Inc. shows how the US agriculture industry has come to control the nation's food supply for maximum profits through feed lots, genetically modified organisms, lobbied legislation, exploited labor, and legal threats. Food, Inc. also explains how Monsanto is able to maintain their monopoly over seed production with legal action and revolving door politics. Definitely a "must-see." This is a solid documentary, backing up the narration with many examples and facts.

The American
The American(2010)

This movie was so boring! There was no point in the whole movie. George Clooney's performance was way too weak. Hard to follow. Good looking women and good scenery do not make a good movie.

Chloe
Chloe(2010)
½

The only good thing about this movie was the scene which Amanda Seyfried and Julianne Moore have sex.

Sweet Home Alabama

Too foreseeable. The movie was just a compilation of all the stereotypes for Alabamians. It was sort of entertaining though.

Bread & Tulips
½

In Some scenes the acting was just too pathetic. The story was entertaining. Gently humorous.

Get Him to the Greek
½

It seems like a sequence for "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." Brilliant! If you liked Sarah Marshall you should definitely see this. It was very funny, but still it could be a little bit better. Russell Brand,Jonah Hill and P Ditty made the movie great. I just think that the main characters abused of bad words trying to be funnier.

Nothing But the Truth

One of those movies that the ending surprises you. The cinematography is very unusual in the courtroom drama with a heavy-handed political message. I like the message that freedom is no longer true.

Marathon Man
Marathon Man(1976)
½

This was a really good thriller. It reminds me a lot Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver." Well paced, great characters, great ending. It had a lot of suspense to it and Dustin hoffman just does a great job.

Daniel & Ana
Daniel & Ana(2010)

Shocking! Good movie, that deals with a unique topic. There should be more narration.

Canadian Bacon
½

Really good. This is a surprisingly funny political satire about the American presidency and war machine. The cast was weak, but they did an ok job in the movie. It could be funnier from the middle to the end. Michael Moore's documentaries are better, but still a pretty good movie.

Dan in Real Life

Steve Carrel has a depressing life in this movie. Although the love story is really good, they could show how he fixed his relation with his brother after the little "accident."

The Future of Food

It was interesting. This movie goes beyond the more obvious level of organic food being healthier for people to eat. It also discusses how politics is playing into what Americans eat. Makes a big criticism to the big food corporations. It might become a little bit repetitive in some point.

No One Killed Jessica

No One Killed Jessica tells the real-life story of Jessica Lal, and the injustice that was committed. Great story and great acting. Interesting movie that highlights the disintegration of moral fiber in the Indian society as well as systematic corruption. A spirited and inspiring movie, made with good taste.

Season of the Witch

I like the two leads - Cage and Perlman, but they don't do much acting in this, more like just going through the motions for most of the movie. The special effects were really not good enough for a wide release movie, and the film's ending was desperately trying to be a "swerve" and yet felt wholly predictable.

Freakonomics
Freakonomics(2010)

Different from what I was expecting. Freakonomics is a very interesting look at motivations and incentivations. Unfortunately the majority of the movie seemed to very quickly cover a topic and move on to the next. There is a lack of depth that is a little disappointing.

Grown Ups
Grown Ups(2010)
½

It was just not funny at all.

Disclosure
Disclosure(1994)

Surprisingly good. This one was wicked, Michael Douglas doing what he does best; being haunted by his environment and Demi Moore as a sexy superb businesswoman. Good thriller.

Julie & Julia
½

Not that good. Meryl Streep's voice was really annoying in this movie.

Bicycle Thieves (Ladri di biciclette) (The Bicycle Thief)

Great movie! It gives us the faces of this man's family; his delightful wife and his admiring son. We also feel the desperation of post-war Italy right away and realize the profound importance of a bicycle. This is such a beautiful, timeless movie about injustice, shame, and unconditional love.

You Don't Know Jack

Controversial plot. Good but it might become really boring in some parts. Acting was ok.

Middle of Nowhere

What an interesting indie movie! The plot was good and the performances were great.

She's Out of My League
½

The only funny scene was when the dog was licking Jay Baruchel's crotch .

Crips and Bloods: Made in America

Not so much about the Crips and Bloods specifically and more about the history of gang violence in L.A. On broader scale, it also goes into the general oppression of blacks in America throughout history. In the beginning seems like the director is trying to justify the gang's actions connecting both topics. Good documentary for understanding psychologically those groups, but it evident the lack of information on the history of both gangs.

Top Gun
Top Gun(1986)

Although it is considered a classic, I still thought it was a pretty bad movie. Take off all the scenes of the airplanes flying and Tom Cruise kissing Kelly McGillis' character, the other 5 minutes of movie are still pretty boring.

Primary Colors

Great movie. This is worth watching just for the excellent Clinton impersonations by Travolta and Emma Thompson. They are both brillant. Some scenes were hilarious.

Gomorrah (Gomorra)
½

Unfortunately I cannot compare with the book but it was a good movie! Gomorrah has an interesting, cinema verite style with minimalist performances and subtitle, non-flashy scenery with a complex web of characters and plot points, like every good non-American crime saga thriller has nowadays. This movie is very much like a documentary. The movie moves slow though and in some parts was hard to foolow the different "mini-plots" inside the movie.

Sometimes in April

Powerful scenes and plot. Although this HBO docudrama makes a satisfactory dramatic watch, is asks more questions than it answers and leaves one wondering, among other things, how it is possible that so many helpless and innocent people could be savagely murdered by their own countrymen.

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

Amazingly interesting documentary. You will never see a movie like this. It will not leave you happy. It will make you feel both contempt and pride for humanity. The emotion was so raw. A real emotional roller coaster.

Friends With Money

It was good. Interesting points of view in the relationships. The ending was really disappointing though. Frances McDorman was not good at all in this movie.

Taking Chance

Beautifully done in all aspects of film making. However, because it was a "Drama", it required more character development and a deeper story. It was still good.

Charlotte Gray

I didn't think it was that great. With a better-written and more believable story, this would have been 3, maybe 4 stars.

North Face (Nordwand)
½

Interesting story. The plot could be better but the picture was still pretty good. Amazing cinematography.

Legendary
Legendary(2010)

Too foreseeable. The plot was good but the acting was awful for most part. Still had some pretty exciting and touching moments.

Pretty Woman
Pretty Woman(1990)

A modern and more human version for any fairy tale like Cinderella. Julia Roberts did actually a good job.

The Girl Next Door

Hilarious! The plot was pretty weak, but the situations in which the characters got involved were just too funny. The character played by Chris Marquette was hilarious.

The Girl Next Door
½

Interesting. A seemingly candid introspective on the life of late 90's porn star Stacy Valentine, I found this reality TV to be borderline depressing.

The 6th Day
The 6th Day(2000)

A shitty science/fiction which Arnold Schwarzenegger is the big star.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

Good ending to the trilogy. Unlike American flicks, the characters are more human and seem to better reflect the way they are represented in the novels. I enjoyed all of the supporting characters as well. The ending had me smiling in victory and satisfied- and that is what movies are for.

The Girl Who Played with Fire (Flickan som lekte med elden)
½

Not as good as the first one, but still there is a sophisticated plot including blackmail by sex, chase scenes, secret bank accounts, a relentless killer, a barn and chainsaw, blazing inferno and payback. Really good sequence, but it has no ending.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

An excellent mystery movie with all the dark moody characters. Very fine performances with a well written, suspenseful screenplay. Contains some fine cinematography of quite beautiful scenery. Definitely worth at least four stars. I wonder how this movie did not become more famous.

The War on Democracy
½

Really good. Interesting interviews with CIA ex-agents and people who were tortured by authoritarian governments. I wonder how John Pilger got those documents from the CIA. Really similar to Oliver Stone's South of the Border. This movie is amazing. And it is very humane and democratic in spirit. I am not sure about the success of the populist governments in Latin America, but the spirit of a new beginning-- its heart warming and powerful.

Outbreak
Outbreak(1995)
½

The importance of Kevin Spacey to the movie was expendable. The story was well written and directed, and for a film that wasn't really "over the top" by action movie standards, there were many tense moments to enjoy.

Last Chance Harvey

The beginning was so depressive but good. Then after some point it just started to be too foreseeable.

Charlie Wilson's War
½

Really good. Interesting subject matter and educational as well. Solid performances with Seymour Hoffman being the breakout star. Tom Hanks is the perfect womanizer, boozing Congressman. But since I'm not a Julie Roberts fan, I found her annoying.

Aimée & Jaguar
½

Good movie. A powerful, deeply touching love story that highlights the power of loving fully, admist the terrifying reality of the war.

Red
Red(2010)
½

RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous) was great. Lots of action and Bruce Willis right in the middle of it. The story was good and the cast was just superb. The action sequences were fun to watch especially given the old-guys taking control of the situation. Entertaining thrill ride.

Tightrope
Tightrope(1984)
½

The plot was similar to "Jack: The Ripper." Clint Eastwood plays the same kind of character as usual, but still does a great job.

Cinderella Man

What a wonderful movie! Russell Crowe & Renee Zellweger are perfect together in these roles. Paul Giamatti does a great job as well. The movie really covers the true story of Jim Braddock and his family's struggle during the great depression. Great fight scenes that fit into the storyline without overwhelming the story.

Goin' South
Goin' South(1978)
½

This movie sucks, but it has a good cast. The only thing that makes this movie watchable is the acting. Jack Nicholson does a fine job, Mary Steenburgen is quirky and adorable, and of course Christopher Lloyd and John Belushi are brilliant as usual.

Solitary Man
Solitary Man(2010)
½

Michael Douglas performance in this movie was much better than "Wall Street", which he got an Academy Award for it. The plot was good and most of the cast did a great job.

Team America: World Police

"America, FUCK YEAH!" It is South Park with puppets. The dialogue and jokes are totally hilarious. They made the movie as a comedy, nowhere do they state that this is how they view the war.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

One of my favorite movies from my childhood. Alan Rickman and Kevin Costner were awesome together. Much better than the new movie that they did recently.

The Informers

This one was awful. This is not a film that is so bad it's good, it's simply bad. There's no humor to be found, simply sheer, monotonous badness. It is scene after scene of characters you don't care about doing things that are not interesting and saying things that are stupefying. And then, somewhere towards the end of the movie you realize that none of these characters and none of these scenes connect.

The American President

Surprisingly good. Annette Bening and Michael Douglas are both great in these "softer than usual" roles for them, and they have wonderful chemistry. The plot and the political propaganda were good.

The Killer Inside Me
½

Take out the scenes where Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson appear naked and the movie becomes a boring piece of crap.

Electric Shadows
½

It reminded me a lot "Cinema Paradiso." It was really good and different than most typical Chinese movies.

Runaway Train

Oh my God, what a piece of crap!

The Social Network

The film was incredible. If you love films about lies, betrayal, loss and the fight for power you will love this one. Outstanding performance from Jesse Eisenberg. The dialog in this look at the creation of facebook crackles with wit and import. The acting of all the principles is spot on terrific and believable. A must watch!

Death at a Funeral

Awful copy of the British comedy which has the same name. Not funny though.

Death at a Funeral

Excellent british comedy. I was laughing since the first minute to the end. The story was different in a good way. Good movie. Most of the cast did a great job.

Lost In Translation
½

The best thing about this movie was too see the nice pictures from Tokyo and see a little bit of Japanese culture. I could not see anything special on the plot. It could be better. Scarlett Johansson was not very good.

Hitch
Hitch(2005)

It was ok. Just another movie that Will Smith thinks that he is the best man on Earth. It has some funny scenes though.

Psycho
Psycho(1960)
½

Amazingly, it actually exceeded my expectations.

Blame It on Fidel (La Faute a Fidel)

A delightful movie! The film is sprinkled with very humorous moments, such as calling Mickey Mouse a fascist and confusing Santa Claus for a communist. And also more serious moments that deal with abortion and politics of the home. The movie is seen through a little girls eyes and how she comes to terms with her parents being communists. Funny at times, but also heart breaking. Nothing really special about the cinema photography, but the casting was great. Very entertaining.

Troy
Troy(2004)

Awesome movie. I just don't like Orlando Bloom as an actor. The plot was great though.

10 Things I Hate About You
½

One of the best romantic comedies made recently.

Hotel Rwanda
Hotel Rwanda(2004)

Amazing movie. Don Cheadle should have won an Oscar for this movie.

Stephen King's It

It was really good until the time that big spider appeared. Movies based on Stephen King's books are good thrillers, but the ending is always disappointing.

Elite Squad: The Enemy Within
½

Almost as good as the first one. While the first movie is more violent, the second one tends to focus more on politics. Wagner Moura was excellent again. The plot was great. Awesome movie!

Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad)

It's the police's version of City of God. The movie shows that to fight crime in a such violent city like Rio de Janeiro, the cops must be violent too. The story is amazing and Wagner Moura's performance was flawless. Excellent!

Panic Room
Panic Room(2002)
½

Entertaining! Jodie Foster and Forest Whitaker were great. Nice thriller.

When Nietzsche Wept
½

Really good. It was a delightful movie for several reasons: acting, costume, music, humorous scenes.

The Perfect Storm
½

I like it. Even knowing that the story may not be real. It was entertaining.

Blade: Trinity

In my opinion this was the best of the trilogy; however, has no ending. When is the fourth movie coming? Great story and the cast did a great job.

Blade II
Blade II(2002)
½

not good as the first one....

Blade
Blade(1998)

Good movie about vampires. The idea of a bloody bath in that nightclub was great. Cool story.

Independence Day
½

I am not such a big fan of science-fictions, but this one i thought it was really good. The story seems to be a big clichê about aliens invading the Earth and killing us all, but I liked the idea about secret areas controlled by the government where they do research on them. Acting by most part of the cast was good. Will Smith was great and kind of funny. The special effects were great too.

La Stanza del Figlio (The Son's Room)
½

It was really good. Real emotions are shown and explored rather than just exploited. The result is a tearjerker in the most honest sense.

Singles
Singles(1992)

Awful! Boring! Most fans of 90's rock like this movie just because it has a lot of "grunge bands" (pearl jam, soundgarden, alice in chains, and others), but is just a boring chick's flick.

King Arthur
King Arthur(2004)

I almost fell asleep in front of the TV. It was way too boring.

Being John Malkovich

What in God's name is Cameron Diaz' hair in this movie? The movie was a little weird, but great. I think that John Cusack has the best ending to the story. Great movie. Great acting.

The Break-Up
The Break-Up(2006)

This movie sucks! It is so annoying how Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn kept fighting for no reason the whole movie. Not worth it.

The Rules of the Game (La règle du jeu)

There is a lot of material being communicated in a language that we don't easily understand anymore, but it has a good plot and the acting and production was really good for its time.

Superman Returns
½

Oh my God! after such a long time, Hollywood still produces an even worse movie than the last one. Why cant they give a decent story to Superman?

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

It was little better than the third one, but still not good as the first one was. Christopher Reeve was once again great as Clark Kent.

Superman III
Superman III(1983)

It was so boring. Definitely the worst of all the Superman films. Campy, silly, possibly fun if you aren't looking for a blockbuster. A very weak follow-up to the first two movies.

Superman II
Superman II(1981)

It was kind of dumb. The main cast did a good job with the exception of the villains.

Superman
Superman(1978)

It was a greap adaptation from the comic books. The material covered was fair, the action scenes were good, and special facts are fair for the time that the movie was made. The role played by the characters was good, and the cast was well chose. Great theme song.

Así del Precipicio
½

Not quite sure what this movie was about. It tries to imitates Almodóvar's kind of movie. Ana de la Reguera was great, but the plot could be better. The sex scenes were good.

Street Thief
Street Thief(2006)
½

It could be better. This fake-documentary was clearly made with out any background study, or even legal understanding. The acting was not the greatest either.

H.H. Holmes - America's First Serial Killer

Awesome! I really liked this. I had never heard of H H Holmes until I saw this. The narration was good. The one fact that will always make it fascinating is that no one really knows how many people he killed. A great documentary.

Edge of Darkness

This is a great movie! It has good action and I feel that Gibson does a great job of portraying the distraught father seeking revenge. The plot was really good.

Sweet Evil
Sweet Evil(1994)

Bridgette Wilson was beautiful and great in this movie. It is a low-budget movie, but it was ok.

World's Greatest Dad
½

I'm not a Robin Williams fan, but this movie was actually good. The plot was funny and the acting was good by most part.

Analyze That
Analyze That(2002)

The sequel was good. Not so good as the first one, but it was ok.

Analyze This
Analyze This(1999)
½

Funny movie with De Niro. The plot was kind of interesting.

Mallrats
Mallrats(1995)

There are some funny scenes. The movie is actually a different kind of romantic comedy. The cast was good. The plot was kind of funny.

The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia
½

Interesting documentary about a "white trash" family. Filmaker obviously got close enough and comfortable enough with their subjects to capture some very engaging content. These people just think their lives are suppose to be this way - nothing more. A sad and shocking documentary of how some people live in West Virginia.

American Violet

It was good. I was hoping that they would show more the courtroom scenes. The acting was ok from most cast.

Ladder 49
Ladder 49(2004)

Good story. Joaquin Phoenix is a great actor, but people don't recognize this. The ending was great.

The Weather Underground
½

A promising, unfocused documentary about a group of people with their own set of meandering, unfocused values. Still it is worth watching to see how guilt, narcisism, feelings of moral superiority and a belief that the ends justify the means can lead to violence, hatred and destruction. A very honest and complete look at what happened to the Weather Underground. It could show a little bit more what the police was doing to try to get them.

Paris Je T'aime
½

Very good movie. I did not like much the first story and the one with Elijah Wood. The one with Natalie Portman was definitely one of the best ones. Great cast.

Fools Rush In

A good love story. Feels like a sitcom. Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek were great together.

The Wedding Date

An awful copy of "My Best Friend's Wedding."

Crash
Crash(2004)

One of the best movies that i have ever seen. All the actors had outstanding performances. The plot keeps you interested all the time. Movie moved fast, but also dwelt with common everyday issues. Great theme also. The view and review of our racism and stereotypes really brings some things to light and you walk away from this literally shocked at what happens and how you feel about it.

Bobby
Bobby(2006)
½

Great movie that shows many important events that it were happening in the USA in the late 60's. Starts slowly with not much going on, but it was nice how all the chracters are kind of connected in this amazing stories. "Bobby" was great for using actual footage of Senator Kennedy and for some awesome 'trick' photography in using the senator in several scenes. It made the film look completely "natural". Very emotional movie as well. The cast was just amazing. Many great actors like Demi Moore, Anthony Hopkins, William H. Macy, Emilio Estevez, Laurence Fishburne, and many others. Emilio Estevez has done a film needed in today's society.

Cocalero
Cocalero(2007)
½

It was so boring. Although the title is Cocalero, if youre expecting a look at the cocaleros role in the economy of Bolivia, you'll be disappointed and misled. Title should be Evo's Campaign. It only showed Evo Morales living the life of a regular citizen.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

It was ok. Not bad, but not great either. Kate Hudson was good. The plot was dumb, but some scenes were kind of interesting.

Sleeping with the Enemy
½

Joseph Ruben carefully builds a creepy atmosphere, relying on brief glances, moments of silence and quietly expressive performances (especially by Julia Roberts) to help the viewer understand that, behind the image of a perfect couple, something is really wrong. After Roberts runs away from her husband, the movie starts to become a little bit boring.

The Matrix Revolutions

The end of this trilogy was awful. I was almost sleeping when i saw this movie. What an awful way to end the trilogy. The whole war scene in of humans agains the machines was weak. The acting was so horrible in this movie I couldnt bear to watch it.

The Matrix Reloaded

Good , but it was a big preview to the awful end. I really enjoyed the show. It was exciting and entertaining. The scene in the highway was awesome. The story is just as intriguing and the new and improved action sequences are unbelievably creative and smooth.

The Matrix
The Matrix(1999)

Only the first one was good. Outstanding special effects. If you like special effects and martial arts, you will not regret seeing this film. They could have stopped here. The playground fighting scene is excellent. Keanu Reeves is excellent as Neo, the computer hacker. Hugo weaving is spectacular as Agent Smith.

Hot Fuzz
Hot Fuzz(2007)

Good british comedy, but "Shaun of the Dead" was funnier. Simon Pegg did an excellent job. Nick Frost was funny.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

This movie was really cool. The famous scene when the kids fly with their bikes was good, but I think it could be longer.

Life as a House

This movie had a great message! I loved the progression of the characters and how they all have problems but getting involved with the house project and George they just all seem to find a way to make things better for themselves and those around them. Both Kevin Kline and Hayden Christensen did an amazing job. They were very believable as a father and his son. I also liked Kristin Scott Thomas and Jena Malone. Mary Steenburgen was hilarious as a sort of Mrs. Robinson character.

Frida
Frida(2002)

Great movie. "Frida" is an extremely moving and captivating biographical film of an exceptional woman who lived an unforgettable life. Salma Hayek is dynamic as Frida and Alfred Molina is equally so as Diego. Great production.

Out of the Blue

It was good movie. Dennis Hopper was terrific as a director and actor. The movie has some weird scenes though. Linda Manz is also fantastic.

Déjà Vu
Déjà Vu(2006)

It was not a bad movie, but i just did not like it. It is a science-fiction that tries to be a serious movie. Denzel Washington always plays the same kind of character.

Empire Records

I swear that i tried to watch the whole movie, but it was too boring and stupid.

Evan Almighty

Story was lame. It was not funny either.

Bruce Almighty
½

Good movie. Jim Carrey was awesome but it could be funnier.

Single Black Female

It seems like a bunch of college kids grabbed their parents camera and decide to make fun of "Single White Female."

Single White Female 2: The Psycho
½

It copies the first movie so much. The plot is almost the same. Some of the scenes are the same. This one seemed more like a soft-porn movie without the porn.

Single White Female
½

This was a good thriller. Some of the scenes were weird, but the plot was still good. This is one of Bridget Fonda & Jennifer Jason Leigh's best. This movie keeps you at the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

War of the Worlds

I thought this movie was so boring. Dakota Fanning just screams during the whole movie. The plot was dumb and the acting even worse.

Sleepy Hollow
½

Typical "Burton and Depp" movie. Creepy, great music, good performances, bizarre especial effects and a little bit of humor.

Coffee and Cigarettes
½

Surprisingly good. I didn't know what to expect, but then I was really impressed with all the dialogues and the stories. All the actors did a really good job. The dry, awkward humor, the visual repetition, the wealth of quote-worthy lines made this movie awesome.

Heartbreak Ridge
½

Dirty Harry is a marine in this movie. Same kind of character as Dirty Harry, Clin Eastwood is great on what he knows how to do best. Here's a film that has clearly flown undetected under the radar as not many people have seen this film. This is a must see for any war buff types and Eastwood fans.

O homem que copiava

I really liked this movie. Lázaro Ramos did a good job. This movie gives you a look through the mentality of the Brazilian lower-middle class. The plot was interesting and some parts are sort of funny.

Kingpin
Kingpin(1996)

A little funny. Bill Murray had an excellent performance. Woody Harrelson was good too.

American Psycho II: All American Girl

Not even half of how good the first movie is. The acting was almost amateur.

American Psycho
½

Awesome movie. Good performance from Christian Bale. The scenes that he has sex with the girl looking at his own image in the mirror, and when he tries to kill that guy in the toilet and he finds out that he is gay were completely hilarious.

Signs
Signs(2002)

It's a good movie to watch when you dont have anything better to do. The end might be a little bit disappointing.

The Devil Wears Prada
½

Surprisingly a good movie. Meryl Streep makes a perfect job as Miranda Priestly.Anne Hathaway is excellent too.

Seven Years in Tibet

Good movie. The story was good, and so was the outdoor shooting. Brad Pitt's accent was awful.

Red Riding Trilogy
½

Boring trilogy. Stories hard to follow, revolting characters, a lot of torture, beating, and some sex scenes. Plot was as weak as it was the acting.

Red Riding: 1983
½

Still boring. More torture and beatings. The story was hard to follow. The acting was good, but the characters were not believable.

Red Riding: 1980
½

You dont need to see the first movie to see this one. Not as violent as part I. The plot is almost the same. The increasing emphasis on police corruption takes away from the suspense of dealing with the murders and finding the killer.

Red Riding: 1974

The dialog is completely incomprehensible. Everybody beats the shit out of the main character during all movie but still sleeps with some pretty girls. Boring plot.

And Then There Was One
½

Good movie. The actors performances are very well done. A very intellegent movie when it comes to the human emotions and the struggles for life.

Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price

The movies focus a lot on the reasons why some people hate Wal-Mart, but it never shows why all these people prefer to shop there. Corporate America has become greedy and criminal. Corporations are lobbying and paying off politicians to create unfair advantages that are not for the good of the majority of the population.

Heat
Heat(1995)

Heat is probably one of the best crime/thrillers ever been produced. With an outstanding cast and plot, Heat gives us a lot of good action scenes, an exciting cat-and-mouse game between DeNiro and Pacino, and side stories between the guys and their wives and girlfriends. The supporting parts, all well done, suitably complimenting where needed, and fading into the background when needed. Definitely one of Michael Mann's best movies.

A Serious Man

I was so disappointed at the Coen brothers when I saw this movie. After they won the Academy Awards for "No Country For Old Men", there was so much advertisement for this movie and it was such a piece of crap. The movie was so boring. It wasn't even funny.

Along Came Polly
½

Just another Ben Stiller's typical movie.

Great Balls of Fire

Awesome movie about the singer Jerry Lee Lewis. Dennis Quaid went nuts playing the piano. Winona Ryder was also good. The plot was interesting. I just wish they had played more of his songs.

Sin Nombre
Sin Nombre(2009)
½

2 stories in one. Excellent dark and brooding drama with some action and a little romance. The development of characters could be a little better though.

Epic Movie
Epic Movie(2007)

Awful movie! Not funny at all!

The Da Vinci Code

Hollywood lost its big chance to produce a blockbuster movie. I didn't read the novel, but everybody tells me that the movie is awful compared to the book. The movie wasn't exciting and most actors seemed bored in most part of the movie.

The Insider
The Insider(1999)

One of Michael Mann's best movies. Wonderful, thought-provoking film about the corruption in behind-the-scenes corporate America. Very well made production. I'm not a big Russell Crowe fan, but he made a terrific job in this one. Al Pacino is great as usual. Definitely worth watching!

Dancing with the Devil
½

"The Devil is still dancing in Rio de Janeiro." Great documentary. I know that the topic is a little overrated in Brazil, but it was still excellent. I liked how the director got interviews with many drug dealers that had not been on camera before. Really good.

Foul Play
Foul Play(1978)

It was not funny. The plot was dumb. The acting was mediocre.

Bad Boys II
Bad Boys II(2003)

Full of action and it's funny. Why did it take so much time to do the second movie? The first movie was pretty good.

Bad Boys
Bad Boys(1995)

Good movie. It was funny and the action scenes were good.

V for Vendetta

Perfect! One of the best movies inspired in a comic book ever. Natalie Portman is beautiful even with no hair and Hugo Weaving made a awesome job playing the "terrorist." Great plot with awesome action scenes.

Phantom Punch

Surprisingly good. I was especially impressed by the performance of Ving Rhames. Its entertaining and it gives a good view of Sonny Liston's life.

Arlington Road

A great movie for you conspiracy theorists. Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins give outstanding performances and the story is an important one, emphasizing how dangerous it is to take things at face value. Definitely worth a rental.

South of the Border

Great political documentary. This film gives a positive view on the rise of left-wing politicians through South America, interviewing such famous leaders like Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales, Oliver Stone sheds light on, what is convinced in America as, the dark side. I do not agree with some policies made by those leaders but it was interesting to see their version of the distorted stories created by American media.

Naked Ambition: An R Rated Look at an X Rated Industry

Michael Grecco is famous for his photos of advertising, editorial. and celebrities. He was director of this documentary shot at the AVN awards in Las Vegas. His idea about going to the AVN awards with the excuse to make a coffee table book was pretty dumb. It was nice to see how the lives of Sunny Lane, Joanna Angel, and Nautica Thorn are outside the porn business.

Se Eu Fosse Você 2 (If I Were You 2)

It was kind of funny. Tonny Ramos was excellent.

The Stepfather

A typical chick-flick centered around family life in the suburbs.

Lipstick
Lipstick(1976)

Awful! This movie is a contrived piece of sexploitation that pretends to have a message. It is intense but ultimately disappointing.

Interesting plot. Not a terrible movie, but not one of George Clooney's best. It was okay.

Not my cup of tea I guess.Joaquin Phoenix seems not to care much about the movie. Caine and Kate Winslet were great though.

Casablanca
Casablanca(1942)

The quality is stunning. The plot is great. Acting was really good. Bogart and Bergman star as love interests torn apart by the actions taken in WWII. Casablanca never ages, but like a good wine, it seemingly gets better as time goes by. Casablanca gives us a glimpse of the tragedy of this time period where at the very fringe of Nazi aggression. Casablanca even fully grasp what a true, powerful reflection it is of American idealism and ethics. Great movie. A must-see!

Woody Allen movies are so boring, so slow, and the main characters are always so repugnant. Specially the ones played by Woody Allen. They all seem to be the same. Everyone in this movie had the most boring life. Nice pictures of New York City though.

The Messenger

This is a very powerful film with an anti-war bent, but I felt like something was missing there. Good premise and some good acting, but degenerated into too much trash and sorid details of their personal life.

Son of the Mask

This movie was ridiculous! I cannot believe they actually produced such a bad movie.

The Mask
The Mask(1994)

One of the coolest movies with Jim Carrey. It's a kid's movie, but some parts are funny and the plot is decent.

The Boys & Girls Guide to Getting Down

This movie is a hilarious look at the Hollywood nightlife scene amongst hipsters, wannabes and the typical club people. Funny characters. Teaches you how to roll a joint, how to score drugs, how to get into a club, and how to get laid at 6am after a long night out.

The Counterfeiters

I was expecting so much form this movie. The Counterfeiters is Holocaust era film that is not quite as dark in tone as many of its genre mates. The plot seems like a good opportunity for a great film, but this one left me a little blank.

The Dead Pool
½

This sequel was just ridiculous. What in God's name was the scene with Jim Carrey dancing to "Welcome to the Jungle?" And that little car going to fast on San Francisco roads? Eastwood could have done something better in this one.

Sudden Impact

I didn't like too much this sequel. The plot could be developed in a better way. I thought it was ok, but it did not have anything special.

The Enforcer
The Enforcer(1976)

That's the sequel when you start to notice that the movies start to be equal. Kind of same story, dialogues, and characters. "The Enforcer" lacks the intensity of the original "Dirty Harry" but it's still good to see more of Inspector Callahan. This movie was nothing special or memorable like the first two, but it is still a very watchable popcorn flick.

Magnum Force
Magnum Force(1973)

Eastwood is great as the gruff, squinting Harry Callahan. The plot is as good as the first movie. Why his boss always hates him? This is a good one for Dirty Harry fans and fans of the tough cop genre. Very entertaining. Excellent sequel!

Dirty Harry
Dirty Harry(1971)

The action movie in the old times were so much better. They were more realistic. More about investigation. There were not so many special effects the new ones have. Amazing work. I like the pioneering effort in dealing with politicians, mayors and city councils. Eastwood's role was ground breaking and real and for the time, amazing! Dirty Harry is a classic in the use of the anti-hero. Definitely well worth the watch if you're a Clint Eastwood fan!

Freaky Friday

Atonement
Atonement(2007)

Good movie. Good acting and also good directing. The little girl was amazing. She deserved an Oscar for that. The end was fantastic.

The Great Dictator
½

One of the best and funniest movies from Chaplin. The story was great and some scenes were really funny. The end with Chaplin giving that big humanitarian speech was fantastic. The best fact was that he created this classic criticizing the Nazi power, while the war in Europe was still going on.
Brilliant!

Mulholland Falls

One of the most original movies I've seen in a while. This is the kind of movie Hollywood can be good at, and here they're very good. Good cast, good script, good screenplay, good direction, good movie.

Mitch Albom's 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven'

Jon Voight did an excellent job. The movie itself was very well done. A bit confusing in the beginning. The background noise was way to high and made it difficult to hear what the actors were saying during at least half of the movie. The story was good.

Super Size Me

Good documentary. The best end for this movie should be the guy dying from McDonalds.

Super High Me

It was ok for 1 hour. Some parts of the stand-up comedy show were funny, but you can notice that he sabotaged his tests while he was not using drugs.

Deceiver
Deceiver(1998)

Great cast in this unusual phychological thriller. The plot was good. A little disappointing in the end though.

Triumph des Willens (Triumph Of The Will)

It's basically a 2-hour nazi propaganda. It show's how Hitler became the most powerful man in Europe at that time and also how he united the German people after the impacts of WWI. Be ready to watch a lot of marching.

½

The girl looks hotter when she puts the glasses on.

In the Heat of the Night
½

Good movie. The plot is a mess but worthwhile to view solely for Sidney Poitier. I found the film too slow moving in some parts. The racial tension is as advertised, realistic and just as thick and oppressive as the Mississippi summer heat it take place in. I believe that the movie won the Academy Awards because of the civil rights movement that was happening in the same time as the movie was released.

Fuel
Fuel(2008)

Good documentary. Its a drama, a comedy, an expose, and a true story. It seemed like they were making more points about other things besides Fuel and that was confusing. Good investment ideas though. Concise and practical information/guidance for people, regardless of station, or connectivity to the fossil fuel industry.

Invictus
Invictus(2009)
½

Inspirational story. A little bit too easy to predict, but still a really good movie. really enjoy movies that are based on historical truth, very moving and history shaping. It was great to see Mandela model the mind set of love, compassion and forgiveness of your enemies, wow. Morgan Freeman was great as Nelson Mandela. Matt Damon was ok.

The Burning Plain

It was so boring. Pretty much, a collosal waste of time and talent. Superior cast wasted on a predictable, contrived story line. Hard to follow also.

John Q
John Q(2002)

Excellent drama. Very touching story. Washington's performance was great.

My Cousin Vinny

What a great comedy with Joe Pesci who gives an excellent performance. I think Marisa Tomei is good , but not enough for an Oscar. The plot was really good. My Cousin Vinny is a film that does a very good job of walking that fine line between satire and offensive stereotyping. Unlike today's comedies when they focus more on gag humor and shocking scenes, My Cousin Vinny actually has a script to follow and scenes that have meaning.

Run Lola Run
Run Lola Run(1999)

This movie was so good! Franka Potente and Moritz Bleibtreu were excellent. It was amazing how everything was fast and full of energy. It can possess the viewer since the first minute to the end. Run Lola Run is a great high-energy action film, which was excellently directed and produced. The music is part of the method used by the director to get your adrenaline going as high as Lola's. Run Lola Run show how a single action, no matter how small it may be, can change the outcome of others around us. Where there is a problem that needs a solution, this film shows how the human brain reasons spontaneously until it arrives at a solution. This movie is one heck of a thrill ride!

The Brave One

It's like "Taxidriver", but a little softer. Jody Foster is magnificent. Timid and authentic at the beginning; then real brassy and solid as she evolves into a hardass vigilante. The plot was good.

Dogma
Dogma(1999)
½

Different kind of humor. Although for a lot of people this movie might seem like a criticism on the Catholic Church, it actually mocks portions of society for being anti-religious. It had an all star cast that were given a great script, and then let loose to do what they each do best, in their own styles. Dogma is a great study on religion and in a funny way.

Whatever Works
½

Woody Allen brings us a interesting way to see life. Most of the acting in this movie was awful though. The plot could be better too. I just think that Woody Allen's movies are very similar in the way that they are made and the main male character has always the same personality.

In the Line of Fire
½

Malkovich is outstanding, an utterly believable psychopath. Highly intense and suspenseful, this is an action packed film with an incredible cast and an extremely intelligent script.

1900 (Novecento)

I think that was the longest movie I've seen in my life. Besides the fact that lasts more than 5 hours, it is also very boring. Perhaps one of the worst movies I have ever seen. While I will say that Sutherland and several other actors give good performances, as a film this is little more than a piece of trash.

Kill Bill: Volume 2
½

One of the few movies which the sequence is better than the first one. It explains a lot the story, which the first movie fails to do so. Tarantino's work to bring anime to live action in this tale is fantastic. Michael Madsen gives one of his best performances, and the training scenes with Chia Hui Liu portraying Pai Mei are great. Good conclusion for the story.

Kill Bill: Volume 1
½

The first one was good except fot he scene which Uma Thurman cuts everybody's head and a rain of blood takes over the movie. Instead of just enjoying the ghastly amounts of blood, death, decapitations and violence, I tried to make sense out of this. This is a great watch with amazing fight scenes, good characters and the standard Tarantino wit in his writing.

Bob Roberts(1992)

I found the cynicism in this movie great. Tim Robbins is funny and give an outstanding performance. It was like watching the politicized version of "Walk the Line." The songs were nice and funny.

The Fifth Element

I dont like so much science fictions but this one I thought it was really good. Bruce Willis doing what he knows best, Gary Oldman is excellent as a villain, Milla Jovovich looks beautiful, and Chris Tucker is hilarious.

Midnight Express
½

Really good movie. Good acting. The story was great. The end reminds me "The Last King of Scotland."

Shaun of the Dead

Awesome movie. There is not much to do with "Dawn of the dead", but is a good zombie comedy. Rather than just poking fun at the concept, this is a zombie movie that incorporates comedy. The acting is really well done and handles the comedic, horror and dramatic elements exceptionally well. Very funny movie.

Secret Window

One of the few movies inspired in Stephen King's book that is very good.
Great performances from Johnny Depp and John Turturro.

Jackie Brown
Jackie Brown(1997)
½

The name of this movie should be "Ordell Robbie", character played by Samuel L. Jackson. He is the big star in this movie. The story is good, but i think it was the weakest movie from Tarantino.

American Gangster

Good gangster's movie, however its not in the same level as The Godfather, Goodfellas and Casino. Washington and Crowe deliver solid performances. There wasnâ??t much build-up of tension, few moments of suspense, and a genuine lack of surprise.

Taking Lives
Taking Lives(2004)

Ethan Hawke gives an outstanding and believeable performance. This is one movie that will deffinately keep you guessing right up until the shocking and original ending.

We Own the Night

The action scenes were not exciting at all. Joaquin Phoenix could have done better.

Garrincha - Estrela Solitária (Garrincha: Lonely Star)

Good biographical movie. A little bit too "soft-porn" in the first 30 mins of movie. i loved the live footage of the real match in 1962. Good story also.

His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th fans will appreciate this documentary. It tells the whole story about the movies, Jason, the theme, Crystal Lake, the camp, the sex, the teens, and others.

Freddy vs. Jason
½

I dont care what people say. This movie was great. Freddy is the real bad guy in this movie and Jaosn becomes some kind of hero. Great action! Great effects! Highest body count of any of these movies I've seen. And it was hillarious.

Friday the 13th

Yay! Jason is back! Friday the 13th is my favorite horror movie, but this new movie had nothing new. It is just more of the same. I liked how they tried to create a new beginning for the story instead of putting that crazy old lady to kill those kids, Jason is the big star already from the beginning and this time he is not only walking towards the victims. The kids seem even more stupid. The girls were hot and the director made sure that he showed us a lot of titties and sex scenes. Good horror movie.

Jason X
Jason X(2002)

This was the worst Friday the 13th movie ever. The plot was just ridiculous. Apparently Jason has superpowers now. It seems like most of the slasher most eventually turn their icons into mockeries, and this is where it happens to Jason. I am a big slasher movie fan, and the Friday the 13th series is definitely one of the best, so thats why it was hard to watch this sucker.

Jason Goes to Hell - The Final Friday
½

It is weird. The story changes with the fact that now Jason can invade other people's bodies. Not too many deaths and sex scenes like the other ones have.

Friday the 13th Part VIII - Jason Takes Manhattan
½

why they did this? Its still for most of Jason fans, but the thing about Jason going to NYC was ridiculous. The downside to this one is that he doesn't get to New York and begin his killing there until two-thirds of the way through the movie. It was more funny than actually scary.

Friday the 13th Part VII - The New Blood

Not bad for a Friday the 13th movie. The acting was a little bit weak from some people of the cast.

Friday the 13th, Part VI - Jason Lives

Really good. This movie was one of my favorite Friday the 13th films the first time i watched it, because Jason is back, and better then ever! As a horrifying living dead Killer. He is walking around the woods again in fast paste motion, machete in his hand, what more can you want?

Friday the 13th, Part V - A New Beginning

This is also one of the best sequels from Friday the 13th. This gives the show some meaning from the beginning and instead of doing a "recap" they start with this character "dream". The death scenes are cool and the victims are quite animated in this very 80s slasher sequel.

Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter

Good story, cast, graphic violence, killings, AND Jason. For those who haven't seen the series, Part 4 is not a bad place to start, or finish. The killings in the "Final Chapter" are original and perfectllly executed.

Friday the 13th Part 3

Jason finally puts the famous hockey mask on. This one is classic! Jason repeatedly attacks her but she fights back to the bitter end! This time around Jason has gotten bigger, faster, stronger, and scarier. The plot, is as usual, pretty simple. But no its not just a psycho killer picking off kids in the woods. The kills are good, the acting is what would be expected (but isnt bad), the nudity is a little disappointing, and the suspense and pacing is great.

Friday the 13th Part 2

Great. The movie is significant because it first introduces us to the character of Jason Voorhees, who for better or for worse, has become synonymous with the modern slasher movie. This is both chilling, a bit scary, and quite bloody for the time period. It is is completely genuine in that its sticks to the story; young camp counselors, barely out of their teens, being hunted and murdered for almost no reason at all, for an entire night. This movie is truly a teen slasher at its finest.

Friday the 13th

This is how it all started. Friday the 13th franchise made me like some horror movies, especially the ones with serial killers on it. Probably my favorite rain-jacket film of all time. Also a darn good horror flick. Some solid death scenes, gripping-- or comical-- struggles, whichever you like, and excellent music. This is the movie that Jason Voorhees is born. At least we can see that his family was all messed up. The final 5 minutes alone are worth the price of admission. Brilliant. All in all definately worthy of its classic status. Not so vital that you deserve to be made fun of if you havent seen it, but close.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith
½

It starts well, but then gets really boring. There is no plot at all. Some of the actions were scene and that's pretty much it.

The Big Lebowski

"Im not Lebowski, im the dude" hahaha. Good movie. Jeff Bridges and John Goodman were hilarious. Good story but i didn't like the ending. Joel and Ethan Coen are masterful when it comes to building a movie based on character development, and plot secondarily.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

One of the best romantic movies ever. Kate Winslet is perfect in this character, and Jim Carrey proves that he can act. The film will appeal to anyone whoâ??s ever been in a less-than-perfect relationship. In the end it conveys the strength of love, which looks beyond imperfections.

The Untouchables

Great movie! DeNiro is always perfect to play a mob member. Kevin Costner also made a really good job. Definitely a must-see movie.

Mrs. Doubtfire
½

Robin Wiliams made a very good job playing an old lady. The movie was funny and entertaining.

Girl, Interrupted

Angelina Jolie did a great job in this one, but i thought Winona Ryder was better.

Entre nos (Between Us)

acting is very believable and the fact that there are so few characters, make it very easy and compelling viewing. The mother character was a little bit too annoying and project of the movie is just ok. It is not too special.

Trade
Trade(2007)

The acting by Cesar Ramos was awful and poor. All the others were good. The plot was really good and I loved the scenes that were filmed in Mexico City. The big highlight in this movie is Alicja Bachleda. Her acting was just out of the top. I also think her character is actually the main one in thw whole movie.

Milk

Funny Games
Funny Games(2008)

It's nothing but degradation by two sadistic home invaders. This movie wasn't even remotely scary. It was just flimsy and boring. I just give 1 star because the dialogues between the two invaders were kind of interesting.

The Pianist
The Pianist(2002)
½

This movie failed to elicit any feelings of grief, despair or triumph from me. It seemed very flat. There was no emotional appeal or connection. Adrien Brody was good, but I am not sure if he deserved an Oscar nomination for this movie.

Cocaine Cowboys II: Hustlin' With the Godmother

The sequel examines the players themselves. At the center is Griselda Blanco, who makes Scarface look like Mother Teresa. I cannot believe that she even managed to kidnap Kennedy's son to get out of jail. The sequel humanizes Griselda and you come to understand how alone and desperate she was. At the end of the day, all she had was power, money, and drugs and it wasnt enough. In the end you realize that the people prosecuting Griselda are just as corrupt as she is. The story is told by Charles Cosby, one of Griselda's boyfriends. He describes how he met the Godmother, sold crack in California, became rich and at the same time was controlled by that woman.

Cocaine Cowboys

"Miami was made by the Colombian cocaine which is something that the gringos do not accept." Fast-paced and kind of exciting. This documentary shows how Miami was made by drug money and how the drug business especially cocaine came to existance in Miami. The clubs, the skyline, the toursim, the shops... everything was created because of the drug cartel. The director puts his narrative in the hands of three players from the era, a wheeler-dealer, a transporter, and an assassin for a cartel. The stories involving Griselda Blanco, the Godmother of cocaine traffic in the USA, were amazing. Never before was there a more deadly or corrupt time and place in American history and this film does more than justice in showing it off. The real stories that inspired Miami Vice and Scarface.

Hot Tub Time Machine

Some scenes were actually kind of funny. The plot was just retarded and acting even worse. A little entertaining though.

Life Blood
Life Blood(2009)

It is cheap, the dialog is stupid, the acting is horrible, the story is silly- a lesbian-goddess-vampire that appears out of nowhere like the the good witch of the west and with bad make-up turns some puritanical bimbo and her evil friend into vampires.

Machete
Machete(2010)

"You just fucked with the wrong Mexican!" It was awesome! Much better than what I was expecting to be honest. It is gory, like most movies from grindhouses were. Machete also made me laugh hysterically in some parts. It was interesting to see a movie like that discussing current political issues such as immigration. Michelle Rodriguez and Don Johnson were brilliant with their performances and you can see also a little bit of the "old Robert DeNiro." Jessica Alba was ok, but very sexy. Danny Trejo was a little out of shape for some of those scenes, but the action in the movie still looked awesome. Do not expect great roles coming from Lindsay Lohan and Steven Seagal, because you would be asking too much from them anyways. The scene that Machete has sex with mother and daughter at the same time in the pool was a little weird, but still kind of funny.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being

Daniel Day-Lewis looks so much like Ben Stiller in this movie. This was too long and too boring.

Everybody's Fine

I haven't seen the original Italian film, so I can't compare the two. This is not a typical family film for the holidays, it's a funny, sad, heartwarming character study. Robert DeNiro is fantastic as usual. A very compelling and emotional movie full of memories and feelings that I am sure most can relate to.

Depressing way to see relationships. Especially the married life. Pleasant to watch, no aftertaste, but not a trace of philosophy.

The Man of the Year (O Homem do Ano)
½

Good movie. The movie was at its best in the beginning when the protaganist unwittingly becomes a neighborhood hero and is showered in gifts. The treatment of morality was very sharply done. Amazing work with character's construction. The ending was still disappointing in some aspects and some dialogues were kind of lame. Still interesting though.

The Runaways
The Runaways(2010)

The kind of movie that after you seen, you wanna play in a rock band. I would recommend to watch "Edgeplay: A Film About the Runaways" before you watch this movie. The story was good and the acting by most part was great. Dakota Fanning's performance was the best work I have ever seen her do. I just think that the movie should have more songs and it focused too much on just Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, while the other members of the Runaways were just complementary characters. Surprised at how little press this film has gotten. It was a great movie with some popular actors in the cast. It's also a good movie for the new generations who don't know anything about the band.

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)

Really nice surprise. Amazing British Indie rock and roll comedy from director Richard Curtis. Almost no plot to speak of, and I loved every second of it. The songs were great and many scenes were hilarious. Nick Frost and some others were extremely funny. The character of Rhys Ifans was actually dispensable for the movie.

The Invention of Lying

This movie should be called "The Invention of Christianism", since the biggest thing he created in the movie was actually the concept of God and what is good and bad. This movie has a fantastic idea, an excellent first 30 minutes and then doesn't do much with what it started with.

Cop Out
Cop Out(2010)

It contains so many references to famous movies. Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan were good together and Sean William Scott was amazingly funny. Adam Brody's and Kevin Pollak's characters were dispensable for the movie. I also felt that this a much funnier version of Bad Boys 2. Same kind of movie. It was almost the same plot, but this one was funnier. The scene with the little boy driving was hilarious.

Inglourious Basterds

The old Tarantino is back! He has created his own imprimatur that instantly tells you what type of film you are in for when you sit in your seat and the curtain goes up. Excelent movie with brilliant dialogues and an outstanding performance from most of the cast. Brad Pitt is excelent. Great story, with some really gory scenes and the dialogues being the most important thing, like in the old good Tarantino movies. Alternative soundtrack as usual. The end was brilliant. One of the best movies of the year.

Quel maledetto treno blindato (The Inglorious Bastards)

Thank you Quentin Tarantino to take such a boring like this one and make a kick ass version decades later. This movie was boring, the plot is stupid and acting even worse. The sequence that they did some years after which is a bunch of short movies was also bad.

Jaws: The Revenge

Definitely the worst Jaws movie. It's so boring. Please, no more sequences!

Jaws
Jaws(1975)

Steven Spielberg created one of the best thrillers ever. Expert cinematography, well-chosen cast, and unforgettable theme song everytime the "Great White" appears, made this one of the best movies from the 70's. Spielberg builds suspense like Hitchcock used to do, not unleashing the monster untill after an hour in. It pays off. The plot is also great. Definitely a must-see.

Te doy mis ojos (Take My Eyes)

Good movie. I liked the psychological version of that complicated relationship that the movie shows.

Excellent! If you're looking for a war movie with a lot of action and a traditional plot, Jarhead may not be the movie for you. Instead, Jarhead gives us an honest insider's view of a story we thought we already knew. The performances make the film.

The Hunger
The Hunger(1983)

Boring horror movie from the 80's.

Jennifer's Body

The dialogues were funny and sort of ridiculous. I'm so glad to say this movie actually wasn't that bad. If you want a cheesy horror movie, this one might be enjoyable.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
½

This shit was ridiculous. It's not a good musical, not a good horror, not a comedy. It's awful. Weak plot and acting. Some rock songs were good and interesting, but that's all.

Despicable Me
½

Despicable Me was a pleasant surprise. The little yellow assistant guys were hillarious. They made this movie funny. The story about the grumpy man and 3 little girls was also nice and sweet.

Highway
Highway(2001)

It was ok. Could be better though. They could had explored more Kurt Cobain's tribute scenes in Seattle to the movie. Also, I can't believe that those guys followed them to Seattle just to break his feet. I thought they were going to shoot him. Too much work for nothing. John C. McGinley's character was kind of funny.

Last Days
Last Days(2005)

Oh my God. This movie was boring as hell. I'm a huge Nirvana fan, but I did NOT appreciate this movie. 1hr and 30 min and nothing happens. Michael Pitt wasn't very good either and the direction was lame.

The Temptations

Amazing. I didn't thought it would be that good. This movie is a must-see for any fan of pop music. The actors are superb- especially the one playing David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. It made it seem as if you were watching the real Temptations. The music was excellent and the story was believable and well done. Very similar to "The Jacksons."

In the Time of the Butterflies

Although Salma Hayek had a mediocre acting performance in this movie, the story, commitment from other actors, and the production were really good. Extraordinary performances of a harrowing time for the Mirabel family. If you enjoy tense, engaging dramas, this one is recommended.

Orphan
Orphan(2009)

It was surprisingly good. Yes, another prescribed and predictable "creepy kid story" but the fright-factor and surprising twist make it ideal entertainment for horror fans. Both girls in the movie had amazing performances.

Barry Lyndon
Barry Lyndon(1975)
½

Slow and boring. Definitely NOT one of Kubrick's best ones. It tells all and shows almost nothing.
