Rating History

Devil (2010)
11 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Michael Says: Devil is an above-average psychological thriller. I definitely would not label this as a horror film although there are a few disturbing images sprinkled throughout. That said, I recommend this tale of a group of people trapped in an elevator with the devil himself!

Gloria was crashed out.

Beautiful Girls
11 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Michael Says: A cool film about a bunch of dudes getting together to re-live old times. The acting is fantastic all around although the relationship between the Natalie Portman and Timothy Hutton characters is a little weird and uncomfortable due to the age difference. That said, I recommend this tale of men and the women they love.

Gloria Says: Not my type of movie. Bored me to the core.

9 (2009)
11 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Gloria says: I personally would have rated this movie a six, but Michael thought it to be a seven. The movie drew me in immediately due to the visuals. For an animated movie, it was rather powerful with vivid scenes of aftermath violence done to humans by machines. I think the film's story is about destruction, survival and a belief of something greater perhaps of the mind's capabilities or of the unknown. It's a must see for today's modern stone-age audience.

Michael Says: To me,the story was secondary to the jaw-dropping visuals. I felt transported to another world by this short animated film. I loved everything about this movie with the only drawback being its thin plot. I highly recommend this visual tour de force.

Bully (2001)
11 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Michael Says: A disturbing, explicit film that chronicles the events surrounding the murder of a Florida teen. Broken kids, indifferent parents and drugs all factor into the equation as everything goes wrong in this bleak tale of adolescents gone crazy. What is even crazier is that the story is true. The acting by the entire cast is so good and so natural that I sometimes thought I was watching a documentary. Uncompromising, uncomfortable and hard to watch, I recommend this film.

Gloria Says: It's a great psychological thriller about a group of disturbed teenagers who find comfort with each other to fill the empty void in their lives. It's a domino effect of abuse that begins at home and it is carried out like a disease that destroys lives. The acting was believable and raw. I too recommend this film.

Old Dogs
Old Dogs (2009)
11 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Gloria Says: It was a snoozer of a film. I giggled not because of the movie but because my husband's laughter is contagious. If the sleeping pill does not work, try Old Dogs instead.

Michael Says: What can I say, I laughed a few times. Other than some good bits, this movie was pretty much terrible. I had to beg Gloria just to get a four rating but I figure my laughter is at least worth that. Old Dogs is an uneven mess of a film and I can not recommend it.
