Dr. Who and the Daleks

Really a good film. It is not over-long , over-dark or too "hollywodized". They made a great sci-fi/comedy film with not so great effects , but that doesn't worsen it. I recommend it dearly.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1
8 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Not a very powerful cast (missing quite a lot of good players), too dark, too long and lacks many of those wonderful dialog moments from the book in order to add more special effects. Hopefully next one will be better.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
8 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Although it is a single over-long fight sequence Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 pleasantly surprised me with it's darkness, effects and acting. It does not rely on cheap thrills but rather works on a much darker, deeper level. Much better than it's rather week prequel.

Piranha (1978)
8 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

The biggest problem with 'Piranha' is that it's neither scary nor funny. Most of the jokes fail miserably and the scares are spoiled by bad acting and fish effects which look like cardboard cut-outs being flashed in front of the camera. Still, like most of these monster horror films 'Piranha' is a very entertaining film and I won't be sorry I saw it any time soon.

The Vault of Horror (Tales from the Crypt, Part II)
8 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

As a sequel to "Tales From the Crypt", "The Vault of Horror" holds up well. The directing isn't as good and the acting is campier, but the writing is better and the stories hold up much better as stand-alone entities.

"Midnight Mess" is the weakest of the five. It is too short and the ending is silly. 60%

"The Neat Job" is my favorite of the five. It is funny, enjoyable and Terry-Thomas's performance is terrific. 90%

"This Trick'll Kill You" is just as enjoyable, but slightly more chilling than the other too. The ending is, this time, effective. 90%

"Bargain in Death" is shorter than "Midnight Mess", but as it has a much less complicated story it is quite understandable. This way it's just the right length. 80%

"Drawn and Quartered" is the second best of the bunch and it's truly entertaining. In the vein of "Final Destination" movies, you really enjoy the imaginative deaths (this time only three). Tom Baker is pretty chilling as well. 90%

All in all, as a whole, this movie is just as good as "Tales from the Crypt", but the stories truly feel like little movies and you could watch them completely out of context. A real masterpiece of the genre.
